Oil Pump Pickup Question

Drained the oil tonight in my slow process of getting farm truck running. Stuck my finger up in the oil pan drain hole to see if I could feel crud in there, not any I could feel, but I felt what I suppose is the oil pump pickup. It was sitting very close to the bottom of the pan and when I moved it, it moved freely, in an arc upward.

Is this pickup supposed to be a swinging pickup? or is this a mess?

Yes the oil pickup is hinged.

thank you Don. could not see in my manual if it was or not. still taking the pan off tomorrow, but at least I dont have to go parts hunting.
