Got it into my head a while back that I would try to make it to a car show in Providence RI. That's about 60 miles one way. I went with a caravan of old hot rods bunch of Fords(my 30, and a 31, 33, 48, 55, 63, and a 50 merc) Went on the highway part of the way down, they let me go in front cause I wanted to go slow(un-proven car) but they said we got to around 65 sometimes!

Anyway it was a good show, even though mine was the only flat 6 there. My A always gets a lot of comments and attention because of the engine.

It made the trip just fine and the tired old engine held oil pressure the whole way there and back. I did have to stop once on the way back when a lower rear shock mount broke loose. Two minutes and it was strapped up and out of the way, and I still got home just before dark. All in all a great day!

Caravan, safety in numbers, is a great way to travel with our old vehicles. At the cruise in here each saturday evening, the cars with the old engines get alot more attention than the cars with the chromed out 350 chevys.

I hear you Bob, cruise nights around here are usually a 350 chevy meat market too. This was a really period correct type show-- not so many SBC's. We had two with us, in the 50 merc, and the 48, but they never open the hoods...

Our caravan was full of Fords, but only the 55 and 63 had ford power!
