P-12 Tommy Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Hey guys, Took the P-12 for a nice 40 mile run today. About half way to where I was going a thundercloud came out of nowhere. You guessed it. I joined the " I got caught in a downpour in my ole' Mopar club" The wipers managed to wipe enough so I could see where I was going. I had to roll all the windows up lickety split. I found tiny leaks in the outboard sides of both windshields. Good thing I put new weatherstripping in. The car ran pretty good. A couple of times it seem to run 190 degrees sitting at lights, which is not too bad. All in all it worked out fairly well. Tom Quote
randroid Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Tom, I'll be reinstalling my windshield with new rubber before too long and am curious as to what, if any, sort of sealant you used. Theoretically we shouldn't need any but the difference between theory and fact is that one has been proven and the other hasn't, and since few of our windshields don't leak I'll let theory flop in the breeze. -Randy Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Good to hear, Tom. Forty miles is a good chunk. Good way to work the bugs out. I can't wait till I can do the same thing. Quote

I haven't touched the windshields yet. That's another job down the road. My back window needs a new seal too. Hopefully I can find one that doesn't have a seam in it.Tom Quote
1940plymouth Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Tom, For my '40 rear window on the coupe, I got the new rubber from Steele, one solid piece. my rear window still leaks, but that is my fault because I did't use the 3-M sealant that I was told to use Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks Bob. I'll have to check on that. Tom Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Tommy, glad to hear you had fun, my back window has a slight leak witha new weatherstrip too, it was installed by Speedy, but still slight leak in torrential downpours. Hey I dunno about you, but I can handle a small leak, but hope to fix all of it at some point, the point is we are driving our cars outside of sunshine........ Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 You got that right! Somewhere down the road I want to put a headliner in and I don't want to ruin it right off the bat. Tom Quote
