any one know how to remove a valve of of a 218 flathead?

Recommended Posts

Pull your head and start soaking them with your favorite brand of panther. Get the manifold off and soak the guides. Get the valve covers off and soak 'em from the bottom. Then start trying to turn them with a water pump pliers. Once you have them turning, try to get them to move up and down in their guides. Once they move, get a valve spring compressor, remove tfhe keepers and springs, and try to tap them upward. That's the only directijon they will come out. Once you have them out, a lot of cleaning is in order.

Good Luck. Post back with your results.

Head is of? if so, soak the valves with Inox, or diesel for at least a day, whilest soaking tap (i used a wooden block and a hammer) the top of the valves. Use the valve spring removal tool to remove the springs, becarefull not to loose the retainer bits through the holes into the grankcase. With the springs removed, use a small pincher, crowbar placed between to top of the valve seat and put pressure upwards under the valve stem, keep on tapping the head, its should come loose. Just have patience..
