Rodney Bullock Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I have a question for the group. If the upper control arm bushings are worn will this prevent the camber setting in a front end alignment? I was told that there is no more "adjustment" to be had on the passenger side of the car. At first the guy said the spindle was bent . I have not been in an accident so I questioned that, it's more likely it's something else. What do you all think? Quote
David Strieb Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Rodney, If I remember correctly, the caster is preset and can ony be adjusted with shims, but the camber is adjusted by the ecentrics that are on the upper control arms, so I guess the answer would be yes. I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong. Quote
teardrop puller Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I would like to add a little caster, however I do not know which shims to use or where to get them. Can anyone help? With power steering you do not need the caster set at 0. thanks kai Quote
martybose Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Given that our spindles are made from a section of tubing, it could be that it isn't straight even if you haven't been in an accident. On my car I shortened the upper A-arms a fudge to get rid of the positive camber, and went too far on one of them. My mechanic just heated up the spindle and tweeked it a little, and was able to adjust it where I wanted it. Marty Quote
