I need to address the front springs in my 52 truck. Has anyone had experience in removing a leaf softing the ride on a half ton? Why I ask is due to a mismatch on the front springs. On the right front spring, the second or third spring from the bottom does not match the left side which appears to be a stock undisturbed spring. This would be a easy fix just to remove the odd leaf and match the left to the right.

Gary-I've swapped springs into my 52 1 ton when I did the king pins. I didn't remove any leafs that time, but I did just what you're asking about with a boat trailer several years ago. I removed a leaf on each side to lower the bunk height, and soften the ride (bought a lighter boat than the trailer was rated for). That worked out fine. Does your truck lean now or does it sit level side to side? If it leans to the side with the extra leaf you may have problems removing a leaf from that side. Mike

Truck sits level. The odd spring is just longer pointing to the front with no tapered edges which makes it appear out of place. My only concern without a leaf is the weight issue and handling ablilty.

1952gare,mine B3-B(1952) doesn't match the L&R front number of leaves spring too.I have to work on it.The L&R front thickness leaves springs are differents, don't know which is the original. It is on the level. The right front side don't have the original rear shackle U-Bolt.I have to make. Here in Brazil don't have original parts.

Yesterday I removed all springs from the frame. The two rear springs are the same and appear original. The right front is original but the left has been altered. The main leaf and second are original but the others are odd lenghts and thickness. I will need to find replacements. I'am surprized the truck sat level. The back hanger on the left front has some issues, but the others are in good shape. I removed the rest and cleaned, lubed and reinstalled.
