41 Plymouth Frame

I have a 40 Dodge & 41 Plymouth and both have essentially the same chassis, that front crossmember is as stated an inverted "U" with the cover plate on the bottom, both being riveted and welded together and to the chassis rails.......unless yours is rusted out I'd say the bottom piece has OR SHOULD HAVE plenty of integrity, it does have a pair of holes stamped into it to allow access to the radiator support frame nuts that are inside the top of the "U".........I've been stairing at the 1940 Dodge chassis since 1970.............Andy Douglas

The reason I ask is, while the inverted U portion is very sound, and the holes were the bolts go threw to hold the lower control arm shaft is also very sound, it seems the bottom plate which looks like nothing other then a debri catcher is rusted threw in many spots. It looks tin, no thicker then a body panel.

I started this project of converting mine to disk brakes, after reading Tank wilsons post, and lookin at his pictures. I like things period correct, but with modern conveniences. WHile I have resisted a Mustang 2 front end, I am hoping I havent opened a can of worms. I still dont think I have. I am going to try to post a few pictures...
