Hey all, here is my next task, gotta pull instrument cluster, then install new glass bezel, and plastic trim. I also have a different speedo , that is in better shape than the one in the car.

I do not look forward to this job, as I have re-wired the car a year or 2 back, and although it is tidy under there, the wires are now all neatly cable tied etc.

Now I know some of you ar probably wondering why I did not change this glass then, well I did not have it yet.

So any of you ever do this job before, for the oil and temp gauge, whould I pull them first from the cluster and leave them under dash while I pull out the speedo and rest, what may be a good course of action.....Fred

In the past, I think I took out each gauge separately.

You have to kind of pull and tilt them a little at the same time.

Those little bitty screws are easy enough to get out, but a pain

to put back in while upside down on your head.

So, now I wonder if it would be better to pull the entire thing at

once, then reinstall the actual gauges while in a little more handy

position. You would need to loosen up those places where the oil

and temp tubes go thru the firewall so they can move a bit.

Not sure these comments are all so helpful, but may be food for

further thought. Will the gauge cluster clear other wiring that

you've tied together?

Some say to remove the bottom cushion of the front seat.....to make

your work easier. To me, that's not all so great. You're better off to

remove the entire seat to get the smooth floor. Then, you need to

figure a way to hold down the brake and clutch pedals to get them

out of the way......probably use a block of wood under the floor.

I'm sure your gauges will look and be better when you get done, which

ever way you do it.

Thanx Bob, after this task is done, I have the oil pan gasket, pinion seal and diff gasket, steering box oil leakes, adjust brakes again, and the list of little things go on and on..........Fred
