v8valiant Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 Gives me somethin else to think about at Least Andy, Thanx! Also thanx Rbkat, Good to be here. Quote
v8valiant Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 thoughti'd post some pics of the car now she's on the road, still the same mechanically, just trying to decide if i should put a slant or 318 in her..... Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Judging by the white ribbons, you must have used the car in a wedding. Hi and welcome to the forum. Nice vehicle you have there. Looks as if you're making progress. Bob Quote
Andydodge Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 I'd put a Hemi 6 or V8 in it if you want to swap the flathead but it would look o/k done up tho'...rather than a slant 6 as I think the slant 6 would cause some steering column problems........the car looks real nice btw........regards, andyd Quote
v8valiant Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 Thanx guys, yep it was a wedding, always good for motivation too. i've got power rack and pinion ready to go in Andy, my biggest concern is length of a slant or hemi 6( i don't like hemi 6s much). Congrats on getting your cars in chrysler action too Andy! Quote
Andydodge Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 Did they run the pics?......lol.........have to get a copy.........lol..........what rack & pinion are you gunna use?.......andyd Quote
v8valiant Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 Do you know Bruce Robinson at all? He's pretty well known for his Old mopar knowledge and experience. Anyway, he had a reco VK commodore rack and pump there he wasn't using, said it was what he always used on his cars. I got a screamin deal cause he just wanted someone to get some use out of it. Andydodge Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 How are you gunna use the VK rack?........it would be too wide wouldn't it?........what about bump steer?.........andyd Quote
v8valiant Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 apparently its a perfect fit, haven't checked yet but there is heaps of room to shorten the ends if need be. He also told me it works better for less bump steer if mounted at the front with the spindles swapped around. Quote
james curl Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I would think that turning your spindles around side for side would screw your Ackerman Steering Principal up. If you have seen a straight axle Ford with the steering cross rod in front of the axle, watch them try to turn into a parking place. They have to scrub the outside wheel sideways to turn. Quote
v8valiant Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Honestly i don't know that much about it mate, just going by what i've been told. Won't just be jumping into it without proper advice but. Quote
