Dan Babb Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 There's a scene where people are driving up through the mountains in China and I'm pretty sure they were driving an old Dodge Truck. Looked like a 48 or something to my uneducated eye. Anyone else see the movie yet? Quote
Reg Evans Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm dieing to. I'll keep an eye out for the truck. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Will our world as we know it end???????????????:D Black hole alignment An apocalyptic reading of Jenkins's hypothesis has that, when the galactic alignment occurs, it will somehow create a combined gravitational effect between the Sun and the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy (known as Sgr A*), creating havoc on Earth.[70] Apart from the fact noted above that the "galactic alignment" predicted by Jenkins already happened in 1998, the Sun's apparent path through the zodiac as seen from Earth does not take it near the true galactic center, but rather several degrees above it.[71] Even if this were not the case, Sgr A* is 30,000 light years from Earth, and would have to be more than 6 million times closer to cause any gravitational disruption to our Solar System.[72][73] Some versions of this idea elide the 2012 "galactic alignment" with the very different "galactic alignment" proposed by some scientists to explain a supposed periodicity in mass extinctions in the fossil record.[74] The hypothesis supposes that vertical oscillations made by the Sun as it orbits the galactic center cause it to regularly pass through the galactic plane. When the Sun's orbit takes it outside the galactic disc, the influence of the galactic tide is weaker; as it re-enters the galactic disc, as it does every 20–25 million years, it comes under the influence of the far stronger "disc tides", which, according to mathematical models, increase the flux of Oort cloud comets into the Solar System by a factor of 4, leading to a massive increase in the likelihood of a devastating comet impact.[75] However, this "alignment" takes place over tens of millions of years, and could never be timed to an exact date.[76] Evidence shows that the Sun passed through the galactic disc only three million years ago, and is now moving farther above it.[77] For more of the same go here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon Quote

MBF Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Yup that was just before the world ended Dec 31, 1999. Maybe the old Dodges will be our salvation and get us to higher ground Quote
IanT_Qld Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 And don't forget the mini-ice age (dark ages) CO2 rising, Kracatoa (sp?) and continental drift, earth quakes, Tsunamis, what are we going to do, this earth keeps changing. Just maybe earth is a living system and man is not in control, but when it does go sour; I will be following the example of the chinese in the movie and driving away in my 52 DOdge. Quote
KJ's Dodge Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Plyman 50, That sounds like the making of a country song. I am sure it is in there somewhere!! KJ Quote
