Don Coatney Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Returned home yesterday evening from two weeks on the road in my P-15. No major mechanical problems and I got to spend a very enjoyable day surrounded by old cars and old friends. I believe this qualifies my car as a daily driver. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Glad to hear ya made it home Don. Even with the good company you got to enjoy in Hotlanta turf I know it's good to be back. The road gets long sometimes. Just hope it's paying off for ya in the long run. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 Fast Eddie; Hotlanta does have its shady side. One morning around 4:30 AM on the way to work I stopped for gas at a station in downtown Hotlanta. Had the usual onlookers asking about the year of the car etc. One dude having ask the year question then asked if I had any jumper cables. I replied no and he then said "do you have any gay friends". I was about to pull the gas hose from the tank and give him a squirt but I did not. I told him NO AND I DO NOT WANT ANY!. He left quickly. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 LOL! I know exactly what you mean Don. Seems to be that way in many cities. Had somewhat the same thing getting off night shift at TVA one night not that many yrs back. Buddy and I stopped at station in downtown Memphis. It had to be about 3 in the morn and fellows hanging out in the parking lot looked at us as we pulled in like " fresh fish." Same old question, "got any jumper cables?", and same answer you gave. Only this guy got mouthy and his buddies started coming over asking for money etc. My buddy stepped out of the car and I stopped pumping gas. We both had them back over in their corner not long afterwards. This was a half block from the main police station. Worked at the GM plant just before the Olympic's in Hotlanta and was supposed to check out place everyone was staying at. Arrived there in the middle of the night, finally found the place. Hey, if the motel guy at the desk is behind a glass window with signs all over it with all kinds of rules, dont check in. This place was slum lord motel. It was so bad that the walls looked like they were moving before I turned the light on in the room. I'll let you figure out why lol. If I hadnt been driving all day and didnt need to be on new job in a few short hours I would have found another place. Ended up sleeping in the chair after "fumigating" the room and finding another place the next day. Didnt know which was worse, the roach's inside the room or the ones hanging around outside. You have to admit, a man your size doesnt look like "easy pick'ns", well, at least for those that want money Quote
