Don Coatney Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Robert, you mentioned that you had cleaned some terminals and then later they were dirty again. That doesn't seem right, I'm can't imagine why they would do that. Jim; It is called blow by. This will happen when a 6 cylinder engine runs on 4 cylinders and nothing is done to repair the engine. Robert; You need to fix the real problems and the other problems will disappear. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Robert, now that you are making a little more money, it may be wise to consider the purchase of a 1940s Dodge truck. You can use it to haul stuff that will not fit in your P15, and you have a second vehicle ready and able to use every day while your P15 is receiving proper repair rather than a quicky-gotta-get-to-work repair. I always recommend having at least one vehicle in spare to use while one's daily driver is getting fixed. You will be amased at how much lower your stress level is, and also how much less expensive this can be in the long run.I have an '89 Jeep Wagoneer that I rarely use, but it sure comes in handy for all of the above reasons mentioned, plus where I live we see a lot of ice and 4x4 is the only way I know of to climb some of these hills safely. Good point Ben. Wife and I are at a point where neither of us drive that much anymore, and could easily sell one of our cars. But.......as you just said, if you have two, life is so much easier. Her driver only has 49,000 miles on it, and I just bought a new driver for myself, plus still have the P15. If one car goes down, it's no big deal, we can still get where we want to go. My neighbor across the street is divorced and lives alone. Yet ever since he bought that house, he's always had two cars. When one goes down, he doesn't worry about it. Just sends the one that needs work to the shop, then hops into the other car for where ever he wants to go. Now, we have some other close friends who are retired. Both of them use to have their own cars. But, when they retired they sold one car. Now, when their car goes down, they're stuck, and it becomes a major problem. 1 Quote
