I was sitting here feeling buyer's regret because I had to buy a second 61 hawk. I needed it to build the car I bought in the beginning of my adventure. I had put floors in my car and after looking over my car found that I had to enlist some help from some real bodymen. They showed me some things I did not see and need to fix before the car would roll correct. The cost, to me was astronomical however after I looked at everything, the fenders needed two different patch panels and alot of welding. The quarters and trunk needed floor work as well. I was feeling kind of low.

I was eating and reading like I always do and up poped Jim's article in Hemmings motr news. I had seen his article before however I did not bother to read it completely. I did today, I found that Jim had to buy 5 cars total and he had bought a car thinking that he had what he needed only to find that his search had to continue. The article also talks about how he had to go outside of the car circle to find the canvas material. We have these cars that are so unique and rare and if we want to restore them we have to have some real thick skin, many times others do not understand however we do and must push on without losing focus of what we want, keeping our original idea and not letting someone detour our desire. Thanks Jim for putting that article out there so the temporarily weak(ME) can gain strenght from it.:) anyone that feels kind of low read the January 2007 Hemmings motor news.

Rodney,

Thank you for the kind words. If my blundering mistakes can inspire you, more power to you. I just keep reminding myself that I get most of my enjoyment from the process not the end result. That process includes meeting great people like you and the other participants in this forum. By seperate email I will send you the complete story I wrote that was edited down for the magazine.

Jim,

I think a lot of us need a little inspiration this time of year and would benefit from reading the article, so rather than post it to each of us perhaps it could be posted somewhere here on the forum.

Having never spoken with you in the past I feel a bit untoward asking you to do this, so I'll play my trump card: I was born in Quantico (guess what my Pop did for a living?). Also being a profesional writer doesn't count because my verbage in this Forum has often come across out of the context in which it was intended, but I'll throw that in as a little ballast for my request.

Thanks,

Randy,

I don't mind sending individual copies or posting it somewhere on the forum for all to see but I only know how to do the former and not the later.

How long did you live at Quantico?
