aero3113 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 How much were they asking for it ? My wife would kill me, LoL. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Oh wow, that car would just spell "TROUBLE" You see, you guy's live in some of the greatest location in the country. Where I live you would never never ever see a car like that just sitting for sale. If I could have just bought one like that it would have been so much easier. I started with a basket case. It took two years of sweating. I like anything 1957 however the 1961 had basically the same design with some sweet addition. Bucket seats, custom strip. I like that 57 though, 383 stroker chevy v8 with some nise wheels. Just think I would have been riding alot sooner:D Quote
wldavis3 Posted October 9, 2009 Author Report Posted October 9, 2009 Oh, man, Rodney, You really have a beautiful car. aero, sorry, I cannot reveal price to you. We do not want anything to happen to you ! Quote
realgonekatt Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Wow Rodney! What a lil' sweetheart! I always heard that studes' had a very ahead of their time v8 and set many records including coast to coast comp. runs back in the 50's. Also a bit of a horse power and economy(fuel) leader for the day? care to elaborate? Maybe not so easy to find parts for these days? Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) Hey, your right they were known for there economy runs "Mobil gas test" I also have a 1941 Studebaker Champion with a 169 6cly that on one of these econo runs got 27 miles to the gallon. The champion was a Raymond Lowey design as was the hawk you seen above. The hawk (1961) has a 289 (Studebaker) motor. Not to be mistaken with the 1958 golden hawk that had the packard 352. The later Golden hawks had a paxton super charger on them to increase HP. I have tweek it somewhat. I had head work done as well as the cam reground for more power. I think it gets around 21 miles to a gallon and is pushing about 275 HP. The stock motor gets about 225 HP from the factor. These cars are real nice to drive and they are dependable.
