aero3113 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 I Just thought I would share this with you guys on this Memorial day weekend. It is not good news but just a reminder what these guys do for us. This article is about a friend of mine who lost his life this past Thursday doing what he loved. I haven't spoke to him since he left for the Air Force, but I still remember the great times that we spent together. Its amazing what he had accomplished at such a young age. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/ny-lipilo2412799338may23,0,6468614.story Quote
dezeldoc Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Sorry for the loss, ya know what is even worse the crash was about 20 miles from me, i heard it. i have the utmost respect for the men and women in the military, protecting us. Quote
randroid Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 aero3113, My father was a Night Fighter Pilot for the USMC who disappeared on a training mission out of Cherry Point. Promoted posthumously to Lt. Col., he'd won the Navy Cross, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, more Air Medals than he could wear, and quite possibly led the air strike that softened the North Vietnamese prison that held Dr. Tom Dooley, making him the first US airman in the Viet Nam conflict. There has been more than a little comfort found in our family knowing that he died doing what he loved, and I'm certain his family will eventually feel the same. My hope is that his friends will be able to relate to that, too. I salute Capt. Graziano. Sir! -Randy Quote
