P-12 Tommy Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 :DHey guys, I posted this on the technical thread site but I don't know if anybody saw it. I bought an NOS vacuum wiper motor about a year ago. When the motor is parked the wipers are in the up position. The wipers are supposed to be in the down position. What's up with that? Any info is much appreciated. Tom Quote
blueskies Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 I'm not sure about a P-12, but sounds like the linkage arms are reversed on the vacuum motor. The Trico vacuum motors rotate in one direction 180 degrees, and then reverse back to where they started, and then do it all over again... I have seen P-20 cars with the linkage backwards, so that the arms are up when parked, so maybe it's possible on your car too? Pete Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 :DThanks Pete, I'll check it out. Tom Quote
Cpt.Fred Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 had the same thing on my old opel, it's quite tricky to figure the linkage out when it's disaassembled, but once you assembled everything the wrong way, it suddenly all makes sense to you:D Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 :DTo Cap'n Fred and Pete!! I went and unhooked the wiper transmission arms and turned the shaft 180 degrees. Hooked them back up and "voila" it's working perfectly!! Also took the wiper arms and knurls off and dropped some 3 in 1 oil down the shafts and now the wipers are full speed ahead!! I love it when a plan comes together! I thank you guys for all your help. Really appreciate it! Tom Quote
