PatS.... Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Jon's not real pleased with what was left out. I don't have mine yet, but I have ordered it. http://forums.aaca.org/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=433770&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD Quote
Allan Faust Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 I'm not surprised Pat, just seeing what he said was left out, I would be pissed too.... who knows, hopefully with the new publishing job he'll be able to put out a 2nd edition... with the extra "deletions". Allan Quote
PatS.... Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 I think he could easily do an eBook online somewhere. Jon is a veritable fountain of knowledge on the 50's era Chryslers. Quote
bob_amos Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 If you get the book, have a look at Tony Cipponeri's car in it under 1950. His actual car was used for some of the photos in the book. He's real proud that his was used. While I could share some of his experiences, as he explained them to me, on this with you it would be more enjoyable to have him tell all about it. Tony, do tell all? Quote
PatS.... Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 Yes, Tony, please add your contribution to the book. That would be very interseting. Pat Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Hi All, We had the pleasure of meeting Jon at a Mopars In May show, He approached Karen and asked if he could take some pictures of our car, she said sure go ahead. Jon told her he didn't want to take the pictures there at that time, but would we meet him at a later date. Jon didn't call us for a couple of months, and we had forgotten about it. When he called us we said sure we would meet him out on old highway 66 for a photo session, that was last summer. We couldn't believe the spread he give our car, only because it is the 1950, and the start of the Plymouth section. We love the book, we sent copies to all our kids, and even have one for a raffle prize at our POC National show in Santa Maria this May. Tony C Quote
Normspeed Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Tony, I met Jon up there in Cajon Pass on old 66 and he took quite a few shots of my old P24 too. I'll have to watch for the book, see if my old beater made it into print. Quote
bob_amos Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Tony, Stop by the shop some day soon and bring that book. I'd love seeing your car in print. And... wouldn't that be neat if Norm's car was in there too? Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Yeah Boy! looks like Norm's 53 Suburban got on page 190, Pretty Good. Tony C Quote
bob_amos Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Wow!! How cool is that? Two guys from here made it in. Don't forget to stop by the shop. 'Don't really want to see you... just bring the book... LOL Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Hi Bob, For a slight fee, I may let you look at my book. Tony C Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Well, I reckon the publisher can count on me to purchase a copy! Yeah Boy! looks like Norm's 53 Suburban got on page 190, Pretty Good. Tony C Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Norm, Buy a book???? I bought 7 and sent one to all the kids. Tony C Quote
bob_amos Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Tony, That's okay with me. Charge whatever you feel is right. But, do remember that the next time I have to work on a certain '50 Plymouth that my rates have gone up a bit.. I BIG bit!!! LOL. Thanks for bringing the book by. Your car looks great there. Hey, Normspeed!!! Yours ain't half bad in the book either.. Bob Quote
Normspeed Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 That's really neat. Jon let me look thru his camera on a few set-ups and I was surprised to see what good lighting, good angle, filters and talent can accomplish! For anyone who hasn't visited the DeSoto DeSpatch forum, Jon is dyed-in-the-wool Mopar man and drives his DeSoto coupe all over the country. I think he also recently picked up an Airflow and drove it back across to CA. Pics were taken before I swapped engines. I recall the P24 pulling pretty well going up the Cajon Pass to hook up with Jon, even on only 5 or so cylinders. Quote
