Steering wheel horn ring?

Recommended Posts

Do you have a photo or is it in the parts book somewhere? I bought my truck as a basket case and believe the previuos owner bought a horn ring and the horn button to go with it. I havn't seen a photo of a truck with one or a illustration of one in a parts book.

Thanks for any help, Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Like you, I also wanted a horn ring for my 48. And who wouldn't, after all. They look neat, and help dress up the Pilot's House. A fine gent by the name of Jim Roach kindly sent one to me. But then the fun began.

Didja' know Dodge Pilothouses have TWO different steering wheels? The ealry ones, like my own, are shaped like three equally spaced pieces of pie. Couldn't be simpler, right? But the later wheels have a narrow pie slice in the center bottom and two wider slices on each side - in other words, unequally spaced spaces.

Anyhoo, the horn ring fits only the later wheels with the unequall spaces. They were used originally only in 1952, if memrry serves. Ceck out the horn ring photos I sent to you and you will see it in the pic. Drat it all, but I had no other choice but to return Jim Roach's nice horn ring. And I had already cleaned it up, too.
