aero3113 Posted March 19, 2009 Author Report Posted March 19, 2009 I found this antenna on the web, do you guys think it looks like it will work? Do you think it looks like the same angle as the original? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Since you're on the Island, you can try Auto Barn or Aid Stores to see what's available locally. Might save a lot of hassle by seeing it in person. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Looks pretty close. Hard to tell from the pic if exact.......how much are they asking for that one. Some of his antennas seem awfully high.... if it's the vendor I'm thinking of. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 19, 2009 Author Report Posted March 19, 2009 I tried all the chain stores and none have what I am looking for, Bob it is really cheap and I just might buy it and if it doesn't work I lost a few bucks Quote

There is always someone looking for an antenna and I'm sure you could probably resell it here or on ebay if you want, to at least get your money back. Or, you could use it to swap for some other part with someone. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Aero3113, if reception is what you are after then you need the new antenna. When it comes to electronics new stuff is always better. I know that NOS looks great and all however if you are using a 6volt alternator you have crossed over already. The plugs you should have make a great big diffeence. Most plugs that are resistor have a "R" in the number somewhere. You also hae to look at the spark plug wires you are using as they should be "suppression wires" as well, I have a 6 volt system on the Plymouth and Studebaker That use a Am/Fm 6volt inverter for solid state inner workings. When I did not have the right commination of Plugs , wires and radio suppression device I had all kinds of noise coming thur the radio. I have to have a good plying radio in these antiques as I love the quiet these cars produce:D Keep experimenting and you will find the commination that works. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 22, 2009 Author Report Posted March 22, 2009 I have a new one on order, It should be in this week. Ill let you guys know how it works out and post some pics. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 I received the antenna today and it did not have the right angle on the base. I was able to modify the old base and use it with the new antenna. It looks like the original but does not telescope all the way down, it has about 10 inches that shows when collapsed. I like it and will use it till I find a NOS at a decent price. Here is a pic. 1 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 It looks pretty good in the picture. Just have to use some ingenuity sometimes. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 I just got back from a long drive and there was no "fuzz" at all even when I hit some bumps, its amazing how clear the radio sounded with the new antenna . Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Another old Mopar success story. :) Quote
