Six Volt Electric Fuel Pump

My Airtex 6-volt fuel pump just lunched itself - had about five hours' running time, all total. I'm having trouble finding a replacement locally. Do any of you know of a source for these?

Try Car Quest. I know they handle the Airtex mechanical pumps which means they should be able to get the electric ones too.

You could go with another brand too, as long as you know the Airtex part number, anybody should be able to cross reference it into another brand.

I don't know if you have an A&A Auto Parts stores down your way. That's where I got my 6V fuel pump. I can't recall what brand it is off the top of my head. Let me know if you need more help, I'll research it more.

No A&A down our way. I really don't care what brand I use. The pump is only a generic unit that I wanted to keep from all that cranking that is usually required of older vehicles that sit around a lot. It was so nice to just turn the switch on, pump the throttle once and light it off with a little choke. Sure beat all that cranking to fill an empty carb bowl.

What brand or type electric pumps do the rest of you find will stand up to today's oxygenated, ethanolized new blended stuff we are using today? I'm open to any advice on the subject, as well as any leads for a replacement. Brand name is unimportant. Just gotta' be 6-volts and dependable.

And Jim, my brake fixit offer is still open. Just let me know what suits.

Found a nice heavy duty Carter 6-volt pump at NAPA for $60 bucks. Their part number is P4259. I'm happy:)

It's been my experience with external electric fuel pumps that if they are not used regularly they will fail.
