Normspeed Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I was under the car last weekend and after having rebuilt my rear wheel cylinders just a couple month ago, I now noticed a drop of what appears to be gear oil hanging off my right rear backing plate. I guess it's time for new axle seals. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have to scrounge up a puller every time I go into those rears. Darn! Quote
1just4don Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Sounds like an excellent excuse to add to your tool collection. Nothin is TOO good for the good ole girls. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 I'm thinking if that's really gear oil on my backing plate, I must have an inner seal leaking, because the outer one would only be sealing in cup grease. Has anyone done the inner and outer seals? I'm wondering, do I need to pull the axle to do an inner seal? Quote
