Thank you 's again Bert Quote
Tom Skinner Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Bert, Do you have a Manual? The Rear End/Pumpkin on my 1948 Chrysler takes 90wt EP Oil. My Fluid Drive Transmision takes 10wt Oil. I think you would feel better if you knew for sure with some research. eBay typically sells Manuals, if I knew for a fact I would tell you what your takes. Anyone out there that knows? Tom Quote
Guest Kuster13 Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 From the manual the rear diff, 3, 4 and 5 speed tranny all take S.A.E. 90w. Tom Quote
MBF Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 I have been running 80-90 in the tranny and rear on my 52 1 ton, and 36 Plymouth for many years now. Last year I put a little LUCAS oil stabilizer in each-since they sit alot in the garage I was concerned about condensation on the portions of the gears/bearings that weren't submersed in oil. The LUCAS stuff sticks to the surfaces better than regular gear oil. Just my opinion, and I still use a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcases of all this old stuff and haven't had a valve hang in years! Mike Quote
