48WingNut Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Any way of checking the existing fuel gauge to see if it is ok before proceeding to other problems? I also noticed only one wire going to the gauge with a couple of other stock wires just laying up under the dash. All my other gauges work so i'm not sure what the other two wires go to. Thanx for your help. 48WN Quote
bach4660 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 there are two wires for the gauge. A #12 blue wire which comes from the ignition switch to the fuel gauge, a #16 blue from the tank sending unit to the gauage, and then three #16 black which are the bulbs. As for testing, check ground by using a direct ground from the gauge to the battery, and a direct ground from the tank to the battery Quote
48WingNut Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 So looking at the back of the gauge there are two posts. Which one is ground and which one does the ignition wire go to? 48WN Quote
bach4660 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 I will go look at mine, but winging it from memory the ignition switch post was thicker, for the larger wire gauge, but I might be wrong. Quote
