krodaddy Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Got all the rubber parts for my 52 from Roberts Motor parts. Did everything on my whole front suspension for dirt cheap. Quote
makkelsay Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 ok so they have the rubber pieces how do i know for sure thats all i need? or should i just go ahed and shell out the 300 bones to rebuild the front end Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I highly recommend Roberts. Nice people! Have bought from them many times. They even had the cowl vent, wind shield and trunk rubber for my 49. Quote
Andydodge Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 The lower inner and upper inner rubber seals are essentially just a piec of large rubber hose, check the diameter of the bushes and you should be able to find either a small radiator hose or similar type of hose that will work. The upper outer seals are similar to large "O" rings, tho' not as soft in the rubber composition as an O ring, again check an industrial supply place. The lower outer is the only one that could be a problem as from memory it has a rubber seal with a hex shaped internal piece that fits over the hex head of the bushing and the seal for the other end has a circular internal shape that fits over the circular end of the bush..........lol...does this make sense?.......andyd Quote
Andydodge Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Makkelsay.....also had a thought.........you could even use a piece of shrink wrap tube for the upper & lower inner bushes as all the rubber does is stop dirt & crap getting into the bush/pin assembly, each piec would have to be about 3/4" long, the outer seals are the ones that may need the specific shape although I'd think only the lower ones for certain, as the upper outers are just a seal for the camber/caster adjusters.....andyd Quote
moparjack44 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 If you have a good local independent parts store,(not a Auto Zone, etc.) you could probably find something very similiar that will work. Fortunately we have one in this little Burgtown, and been very helpful with finding parts that will sub for the original. Jack Quote
