blueskies Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 My old '66 T-bird has shown up on e-bay... Hadn't seen the car for about 10 years, when it showed up at the Silver Collector Car Auction in Sun Valley, ID last Sept. Looks like the guy who bought it is a collector car dealer. Here's a couple of shots from when I owned it. The guy I sold it to put the after market steering wheel and gauges in the car... Wish I could have it back... it was a great highway cruiser. JerseyHarold Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I had a similar situation a few months ago. The '52 Cranbrook I sold in 1988 landed on eBay. The guy I sold it to finally decided to sell it. I called him to ask what he had done to it (very little)...but was he ever surprised to hear from me! I had to wrestle long and hard about buying it back (I even got 'authorization' from my better half about it). I ended-up passing on the car.....better to let sleeping dogs (and Plymouths) lie. It sold for a lot less than I got for it! Quote
blueskies Posted December 9, 2008 Author Report Posted December 9, 2008 Just checked the close of the auction, didn't meet reserve at $9100. I sold the car for $3400 in '94... I'm sure the milage listed in the auction is incorrect... It had over 90k on it when I sold it... Not sure who turned back the clock, but I would be surprised if it was the guy who bought it from me. BobT-47P15 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Back in my college days I owned a 54 Chevy 210 two door post sedan.... black with a white top. A nice car. It got hit on the left side by a guy making a turn.....damage to the rear half of the drivers door and front part of the left rear fender. Took the car to the local vo-tech school who agreed to do the body work for practice (i paid for supplies used). However, I had to take it back before they were quite done with it. So it was straight, but not smoothed up. I painted the repaired area with black spray paint.....and continued driving it. Eventually sold it to a fellow I knew. He proceeded to use the Chevy on a newspaper route for a period of time, putting on the miles. When that guy decided to sell, I bought it back. Can't recall what I paid him for it. All the driving he did took it's toll on the front end and steering, which was now kinda loosey--goosey. Just didn't drive like it used to. Can't recall what other problems it had. So I drove it a while longer and sold or traded it. So, sometimes they don't get any better under the care of another person. Quote
