I watched the auction in the closing minutes last night, refreshing my browser repeatedly in the last 30 seconds. In the final 10 seconds, the sniper bids kicked in taking it from $90,500 to $121,000 and finally to the closing price. It was something to see! I really didn't expect it to go past $125K. It just goes to show that even in this stagnant economy, the big players will still spend the dough for what they believe to be a sound investment.

Here are some pics of this very car back in the day. There was a total of six of these coupes built along with six more wagon versions. If you scroll down on the auction, it states what is known or not known about each of them. The second one in the list of coupes is this car. It's story can now be updated since it's been found now. Only the whereabouts of it's original aluminum front sheet metal and engine was known previously.
