Partsstore Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Hi Everyone, The gas here does cost about 10 bucks a gallon here in the Netherlands but I just had to let you know that my little truck is doing an average of 16 miles per gallon for the last 500 miles I drove it. That is about 40% less than what I thought it would do. Quote
grey beard Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 There are a few things you can do to improve your economy. Larger diameter radial tires will fit your old stock wheels. I use 215 x 185 16's on my Pilothouse - 16-inch diameter helps quie a bit. Also try advancing your timing - turn the distributor clockwise and try pulling it down on a lug in high gear. Keep advancing the timing until you hear a ping or knocjk from preignition, then backj it off from that point just a tad. Will help a lot. Also make very certain that your vacuum advance on the distributor is working properly. This is critical for good economy and performance. Let us know what works for you. Good luck. Quote
bach4660 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hi Everyone, doing an average of 16 miles per gallon. I get 8 miles on the Dodge and only 19mpg on my Mazda. Quote
