Reading the forum from Oklahoma City.....

Found a computer in the lobby of the hotel we're staying at in Oklahoma City.

Attending a mini class reunion of Mary Ann's high school class. Not a large

group, but a fun bunch. Staying at the edge of "Bricktown" an old business

and industrial area which had gone down hill, and is being rejuvenated with

buildings now operating as restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Pretty neat and

clean place now. Going to ride a river boat tour this morning....should be

interesting. This afternoon, going to see the memorial place for the victims

of the Federal Building bombing of several years ago.

Went to a bar last night owned by a local dentist, now age 77, who sings

blues and plays the harmonica. He also owns the bar. Guess he could

play any type music he wants.

The only old car seen so far is a nice model A roadster that was sitting

on a parking lot here in OKC. But, will keep looking. Have a great day, all.

Bob,

Sounds like you're having fun. I think I'd forget the computer in the lobby though and see the sights around you. The hotels we stayed at the past week while up in South Dakota all had computers in the lobby too. However, I just looked at them as I walked by. I was there to see the sights, not sit on a computer.

Don....Wish I had time to look up MOPARSAREUS, but too much doing for that to happen.

Norm......I haven't spent much time on the computer. This morning it was a

nice continental breakfast with bacon and eggs, a 2 1/2 hour trip on the

Oklahoma River (including going thru two locks), lunch, a tour thru the

National Memorial about the blowing up of the Federal Building several

years ago, dinner at Toby Keith's restaurant, capped by a ride on a

boat that travels a man-made canal thru Bricktown. Rode the motorized

trolly to get to certain places.

Then tonite when the group all hit the

hay, I put on the ol blues T shirt and wandered back to the bar owned

by the blues playing dentist. After a little visit with him, I bought a

harmonica from him and then sat in with him and the band for 3 songs.

Now, that's my idea of fun.

Aside from breakfast, not sure what's on the agenda for Sunday.

Will head back for home at some point, stopping in Tulsa to take

our friend Mary Ann back home, then on to Joplin.

The trip has been a mini class reunion of the Neosho, MO class of 1959,

with whom the better half graduated. Next year will, of course, be their

50 year reunion.....for which they have hired me and Max to play. They

used to dance to Max's music in their school days. Who'd a-thought??

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Quit telling people it's nice here.

lol

It's a secret.

"Nothin but double wides and tornado's I tell ya"

Evidently your secret is not as well kept as South Dakota's secret. You guys have over 3 million population in Oklahoma. Was in South Dakota last week and noticed the towns were very small. Looked up the population of South Dakota and it's only 781,000 for the whole state! We have more than that in the Milwaukee area alone.

One town we stopped at on the way to Rapid City for lunch only had a gas station, motel and restaurant in it. So it was easy to decide where we would eat.:D That was Hutche's who also owned the motel and gas station. Had three waitresses, all with the same last name Hutche (sisters). The host of the restaurant was momma Hutch.:D Food was good though, so I guess that's all that counts. On the way home I kept telling the wife we could stop at Hutche's again just to say hello.:D

Double wides! Here in Tennessee it takes a lottery winner to upgrade to a double wide.

Reminds me of a joke. A guy told me that once he won the lottery he was getting a two story trailer. I said I don't think they make two story trailers, he said well what do rich people live in then? :)

I have to agree that both Oklahoma and South Dakota are fantastic places to visit. I spent a week in Rapid City nine years ago, great people, great food and beautiful sites in the area to visit.

Also my son and his wife live an hour or so southwest of Oklahoma City, we have been out there three times in the past five years. Another great place to visit and or live if I could talk my wife into it, but she wants no part of moving again.
