62rebelP23 Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 i've noticed some good natured ribbing directed towards some members who don't drive their car(s) much, and perhaps only possess the one or two qualifying vehicles, or perhaps even none at the present moment. i adhere to the rule that one can "collect", even without possession of the item in question, since in many cases a mere image or memory may constitute the event or item "collected". this is much the same as my definitions of "hunting" and "fishing"; neither of which guarantee returning home with a prize; if the reverse were true, these activities would simply be "killing animals" and "catching fish". ANYWAY.... i wish it would stop raining by Thursday so i can fiddle with the '52 Cambridge a bit. it's aggravating to stare out the back door at it while it's raining. Quote
Don Jordan Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Rain? I've heard of rain. I think it rained once or twice this year. re: collecting. I know a guy that "collects" cars. But I don't think he knows the difference between a wing nut and a gull wing. I don't understand how he is able to enjoy his toys. They just sit in the garage. I think most of the guys on this forum actually tinker with their toys (I mean that in the nicest way). I'm embarrassed to admit that I do everything I can to my Plymouth and my Toyota I take in to Jiffy Lube to change the oil because I'd rather not be bothered. I'm getting too old. I remember when it was so cool to slide under the car to mess around with something. Now it's a chore just to get down to the ground and back up. Quote

Same with me, I won't change the oil on my modern cars either, or anything else. Don't even wash my Van or the wife's car. We take em to the car wash. Use to do all the work that needed to be done around the house too. However, now 9 times out of 10 I just call someone to do it. Not only is harder the older we get, but life's too short to be doing those things in place of having fun. Quote
