I am about to try to rebuild the front end on my 1954 Plymouth Suburban. I noticed in the manual that several "special" tools were mentioned. Are they REQUIRED? If so, are they available? Does anybody have a video of this process or a series of pictures with do's and don'ts or recommendations?

Has anyone noticed the difference in the price of tie rod-tie ends? NAPA has three prices, 20, 50 and 100 dollars. O'Reilly's 85 and 120. Bernbaum $40. Now I know you get what you pay for, but when car is a pile of rust, four tires and tie-rod ends I won't care. Any opinions or suggestions? I'm hoping to increase my annual mileage from zero to about 500. For the past five years I have slowly been working on the interior and have the engine finally rebuilt. Just had my first hard look at the suspension in twenty years. I discovered that I still had the suspension of a $75 car. Now I have leaf springs and a king-pin set on it's way from Bernbaum. I also need other bushings and tie-rod ends. Thank god I retired 1 April.

Working on what might be one of the last commercial daily working B1-H dually trucks. She's a beauty, but we need a few parts to keep her running. I'm assuming this is a B1-H Serial number T148 43379 with duals. Chassis and cab are really as close to perfect as we have ever seen! I'm looking for a (1) steering box (rebuilding would be great), (2) tie rod ends and tie rods if available (ideas for options are welcomed). (3) Also open to ideas on how to fit an inspectable parking brake (seems it was removed when the 350 chevy engine and drivetrain was installed). (a moment of silence for the last shocking revelation) .... Any help to keep her running is greatly appreciated! Dave in Baltimore 410-299-0711
