  1. Steering column in '50 Business Coupe leaked from day one. I've replaced the pitman arm seal twice. Taking engine back out so it's time to fix the leak. I have a '53 or'54 Plymouth that I've never paid much attention to. Will the steering shaft from the 53-54 fit in the '50 steering tube? The '50 tube is already repainted, the horn & turn signals work, and I've rebuilt the steering wheel. I'm just concerned that the frame mount and the rod length are the same. Where's the best place to get a new box to frame rubber mount? Thanks, Carl
  2. New guy here. My 50 Business Coupe was partially apart when I bought it. Now at a friends for a build. Friend moved the car twice. Parts are "everywhere." Most everything was sandblasted & primed. I can't identify all the sheet metal from the firewall forward. Looks like I'm missing some. Does anyone have a "blow up" of these parts, or a photo out of a book that might show all the individual parts? I know it sounds silly but my other cars are a 49 Ply & a 49 Wayfarer. Don't know if they are the same or even if they are complete. Thanks in advance. Feel dumb for getting in such a mess. packratc.
  3. First of all, thanks to all on this forum that have answered my MANY questions in this last month. It really is appreciated, and nice to see other fellow car enthusiasts. Just let me know if I wear out my welcome lol. I searched the forums and didn't find anything about how to go about removing my headliner. I'm going to do it, as it's holding the last of the mouse odor in it, and it's unsalvageable in my opinion anyway. Can I just go at it with a razor knife? I know that I should probably save the cross members that I can feel in there, but other than that is there any other method or things that I should know about to save? Thanks. Joe
  4. Hey all, My P19 fastback was "barn fresh" when I got it last week, and I've been going gangbusters ever since figuring out all of it's secrets, one of which (not really a secret actually) was that it had been turned into a mouse luxury liner. I have removed all of the seats, carpeting/vinyl on the floor, and have sprayed the entire car and trunk out with a hose after using a mild degreaser. The headliner and door skins under the rear window remain, and I'm sure have absorbed some odor too. Anyway, the car still stinks. How do I get rid of the urine smell? I can tell that even the steel retained some of the odor. Also, what's the best way to remove the headliner without irreparably damaging anything? My goal is to get this thing mechanically sound for the road this summer, drive it around, then begin body/underbody repair in the winter. I'm wondering about Simple Green, Nature's Remedy, or straight bleach for the urine smell. Thoughts? Also thinking of trying to have the seats extracted at a detail shop so they are usable and bearable for the summer. Thanks to all for replies!
  5. Hi all, waiting on my service manual here, but want to change all fluids this weekend. Can anyone give me the capacity and required fluids for the rear diff, trans, engine oil, and radiator? Also what brake fluids are guys running in these? I'm assuming not DOT3. Thanks to all who answer.
