hi everyone, I recently came into a 1951 B3B Pilothouse. It runs ...sort of... but planning on doing a major overhaul. Also, this is my first restoration project, so taking it as a learning experience too. I apologize in advance for any painfully newbie questions. Anyway, there's a rupture in the brake line somewhere and the pedal has zero pressure. I'm replacing most of the brake system and going with Rustyhope's front disc conversion. So far so good. The question is: what have folks here used as a replacement master cylinder for the disc/drum setup? I know the original MC *can* work, but mine's not in great shape and I figured a new dual cylinder would perform better anyway. What experiences have others had? Is it a pain to run another brake line from the cylinder to the front wheels? thanks Desmond

Hi everyone - looking for feedback on my recently acquired '51 B3B pickup. Not sure the last time that it had run - but on compression test the #2 cylinder I'm getting nothing from (absolutely 0). the others are all around 85 to 110 PSI. Looking down the spark plug hole I do not see anything moving when I crank over the engine (which I presume I'm looking at the cylinder? v's a valve) Depending on costs to repair I'd be tempted to switch out to another frame / engine combo - but checking in to see if I missed something easy / cheap to fix thanks, Jason.

I'm the recent owner of a 1951 Dodge B3B and I had it up and running great until a few weeks ago. Among other issues, the starter stopped working. My mechanic took it out and sent it over to a local rebuilder who eyeballed it from across the room as a Dodge truck starter. Long story short, the armature is broken and it doesn't seem like anybody makes a replacement starter for these trucks. Does anybody have a line on where to find one (new or used, at this point I don't care)? Or of there's any kind of adapter to use a different starter or something like that I'm open to any and all solutions. The truck does have the original 218ci motor. It has been converted to 12V negative ground but the entire truck was professionally rewired, including starter cables. The original starter was working fine until this happened and it used to start the truck great with the extra umph of the 12V battery.

Hey Guys, Im in the process of doing the diesel swap into my '52 B3b 1/2 ton and I've been fiddling with the front suspension. Its all torn down and i got new leaf springs from St. Louis Spring. Now im in the process of collecting the necessary parts to put it all back together when the time comes, king pins, shackles, tie rod ends, drag link, etc. This got the gears turning in the old brain... since the diesel is heavier (750 lbs dry) than the flat head 6, would i be better sourcing a 1 ton or 1-1/2 ton front axle and spindles? Also would it be a good idea to get a steering box from one of those trucks in order to provide greater mechanical advantage when turning? Im not familiar with the heavier spec trucks so any help would be greatly appreciated. I decided to make this a separate thread instead of in bedding it in my "1952 B3b with Cummins 4bt" so that people can search for it in the future easier and hopefully it will help them out.
