Hi guys. I'm working on my 1948 Chrysler Traveler. I´m in a real predicament. I have bought new bushings to the sway bar (4 pieces) and I am about to replace them. The bushings in the two frame bolted "cases" had to be pressed in with a hydraulic press and silicone spray. When I did that the holes became so tight so the 1" steel rod has got no chance to be inserted. Has anyone experienced this when replacing the bushings? Do you have any ideas how to replace these? Shall I drill through and make the hole a bit bigger but not too big? Please, bring me your expertis.

Dear fellow members. I'm from Stockholm, Sweden and are working on my 1948 Chrysler Traveler. I've come to a halt when I have problem getting spare parts for the differential. All the sites, AB, Rock Auto etc can not supply me with the differential side gears I badly need. Does anybody out there know who handles these gears? Also, another question: Are there by any chance that my vehicle has got a HD rear axle? I've purchased from AB rear inner oil seals but they are to small. I'm looking forward for Your reply. Thank you Andydodge.....Cheesus is it that gone??!! There is nothing about this in the shop manual. Nothing on the inside of the housing. I´ll look into this. The rest of the box is quite nice. The bearings and cups are good. The worm. It all good really. I do not think I have to change them...but when I'm into it. Why not change the whole lot. Thanx again. // Gabbe

Hello. I am Gabbe from Stockholm, Sweden. I have a question concerning my 1948 Chrysler Traveller. I have taken the steering housing a part and found 45 small needle bearings ( see picture ) with a spring. I can locate grooves in the bottom of the housing where the shaft goes in. I can also see that the shaft have some wear and tear where I suppose the needles have been. Is there anyone out there on this great site that can guide me to how I can put this together? // Gabbe

Hi. I´m Gabbe from Stockholm, Sweden. I´m putting my -48 Chrysler Traveller together right now. Does anybody have an idea where I can find the two bushings for the rear sway bar? I've tried Andy Bernbaum and Roberts Motor Parts without any luck. Thank you.

Yes. It´s that U-shape thing. And it needs to come off. I just can't get that shock mount out. Its completely stuck. I probably have to work harder on it. I´ll get the sledge hammer :-) Thank you.

This is how it looks right now. I can not get that bolt loose.Do you think I tap ut out? I do not want to damage the threads. Thank you for taking your time.

Thank you for responding so quickly. They seem to be hooked up by a bolt that goes through the control arm. On one side the bolt connects to the bumper. I´ll attach a photo.

Hello. I´m a Swedish guy working on my -48 Chrysler Traveler from scratch. Down to the bone. This sounds like a easy task on the whole but I can not get the bumpers from where they are connected. I guess they are stuck by age, dirt and rust. Does anyone have an idea of how I will get them off the control arm? Thank you Gabbe Stockholm
