  1. Hi all, Been a while since I posted. I have a 1950 Dodge Woodie (B-2-B 108). Just had a bunch of work done to get it going for summer but it’s not running well. I added a new carter carb that I think was meant for this year/engine. The one on the truck was a combo of many different carbs. Other stuff done; new vacuum advance assembly, compression test, new fuel lines, spark plugs and wires, distributor (cap, plate, points, rotor). Even with all that, it not running right. Almost like it’s flooding. Lots of gas in the carb but puttering out. I took the top of the carb off and the float is working although I have no idea how to set it correctly but I did try to adjust it down. Needle/seat is working right as well. Just seems like a ton of gas sitting in the bottom of the carb and actually seeps out of the lower gasket sometimes. Not really sure where to go from here so I’d love any thoughts you guys have on the steps. I’m not really an engine guy but I have a mechanic buddy coming tonight to help me out. Hopefully that’s enough info to get started. Thanks all - Jeremy
  2. Here is our family's 1950 woodie. Purchased new by my grandfather in 1950. Restored by my father in the 80's. I have lots of old pictures from the 50's with my grandfather, dad, etc in the truck. Still runs great but needs some brake work (winter project). The picture with the boy is my father in approx '51 with a pretty new woodie in the background. I still have the water bag that was hung off the bumper to keep drinking water cold. Jeremy
  3. Looks like I might have lost people on this one. My rambling can do that. One last question. Has anyone put or seen 700-16 bias ply truck tires on the stock 4 1/2 in wide rims with success? I saw Mario's example but that's on a 15 in rim and I wasn't sure of the stock width. I found a more sturdy BFG tires in that size and was hoping it would work. Anyone? Thanks
  4. Does anyone know if a 750-16 will fit on the stock rim? I found a great tread pattern for the rear tires but it only comes in that size. Made by STA. Is that too wide? I don't want it to look like a balloon. I also found some good looking traction tires by Namco but am not too sure of that brand or quality. Anyone heard of these before? I found this truck in the gallery..... http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/dodge/1950_pickup_wine/imgcol/index.htm Anyone know who owns this one? The rear tires seem spot on for what I'm looking for.
  5. Yah, I'm trying to keep the truck authentic. I'm sure radials would be better but just not what I'd like to put on it right now. Am I the last guy out there with bias ply on a Dodge truck?
  6. Hello, Before I get too far into my master cylinder project I want to address the tires on my 50 B2B woodie. They are oooooold. The fronts are Seiberling brand which hasn't been around for a very long time and the rear are a super lug traction tire. The spare is Altas which looks even older. I want to stick to the tread pattern as best I can but can't seem to find many options. Do you all have a favor website for vintage bias ply tires? I tried Universal Vintage tire and they have a close one for the fronts (Tornel Highway) but they don't have much in the 650-16 size in the traction type (the STA Super Traxion is a bit aggressive). Also does it matter that I have 6 ply on there today vs. some of the new ones showing 8 ply? Would love to hear what the folks with bias ply have. Jeremy
  7. Thanks everyone for the information. I'm thinking that since it's been about 30 years since the woodie was restored I might need to go through the entire brake system. MC is the biggest issue but the brake lines are probably getting old and ready for replacement. Looks like I better get on it since spring is almost here.
  8. Hello. I have a 1950 B-2-B Woodie. It was restored about 30 years ago by my father. Before I put it away for the winter I noticed a pretty major brake leak. It looks like the master cylinder rubber boot is leaking. Even though very few miles have been put on the truck since redone the rubber is still getting old. From reading posts it sounds like a MC rebuild isn't worth it (especially since I'm not a major gear head). Can anyone suggest a good place to get a new MC and any links or advice on the replacement procedure? With spring rapidly approaching I want to get it up and running in time. Thanks, Jeremy
  9. great. I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, Jeremy
  10. I've been trying to find a car cover for our 1950 Dodge Woodie but keep coming up short. It's a 50 b-2 woodie. I was hoping to find someone out there making covers for a 50's era dodge panel truck but haven't found that yet. Thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas for what to use. It's really just for dust because it will be enclosed in a car pocket (basically a sealed tarp to keep bugs, mice, etc out) but you can't have that touching paint. Let me know if you have some ideas for me. thanks, Jeremy
  11. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I'm looking forward to learning more about the truck through you guys. Jeremy
  12. Hello all. I'm new to this forum and thought instead of lurking around unannounced for a year or two I'd intro myself right off the bat. I'm in Portland, Oregon and am the proud family care-taker of a 1950 Dodge Woodie. My grandfather purchased the truck new in 1950. It has been on many camping trips, hunting outings, and was his primary work vehicle as a cabinet maker. My father learned to drive in the truck and loved it. When he left for college at OSU in Oregon my grandparents decided to follow him from Wyoming and ended up selling the truck for a sedan. In the 70's my father got it in his head that he needed to find the woodie and get it back in the hands of the family and after a long search and many DMV records he did it. It wasn't actually far from their old house in Wyoming. He brought it home to Oregon and within a few years started a full frame off restoration. We used to show it but it hasn't seen much action lately. I believe it won a few awards at the Forest Grove show back in the day. It's only recently made its way to my house where I've been taking it out for short drives and enjoying the Oregon summer as third generation owner. I'm hoping to do more car cruises next summer. The last item that was never done correctly were the taillights. I've been searching for black bucket lights with chrome bezels with no DODGE script. found some at Vintage Power Wagon but they don't come with the license plate light. If you have suggestions I'd love to hear them. I've already picked up on some great tid bits here so I'm sure this will be a great place to learn. Here is a picture of the woodie from a while back. I have some great shots from the early 50's of my grandpa and father out hunting and camping that I'll scan at some point and post. Thanks, Jeremy Rader Portland, Oregon
