  1. Coming along one bolt at a time
  2. Hers a few pictures, ill send more when I get farther along
  3. Yes its the lower inners, one would think the vendors selling the dust shields they would make sure they to fit. But after restoring cars for 40 years and dealing with after market parts I know that aint gonna happen.
  4. Started pre assembly of the control arms and found the dust seals for the control arms in the kit all all the same size. The seal fit the upper shafts which are about 3/4", the lower shafts are closer to 1". The seals might stretch to fit the bushings for the lowers but I suspect they won't hold up very long before splitting being stretched this far. What have others used for dust seals for the lower control arm shafts and bushing. If nothing else I'll try the o rings on the lower shafts
  5. Found the dust seals from Roberts, will be ordering today
  6. Ok, All bushings look fine but the rubber dust seals will need to be replace so I'll be removing the bushing to replace the rubber. I'll probably replace the knuckle rubber dust seals also. Along with tie rod ends and king pins. Dave
  7. Thanks for the leads Dave
  8. I'll have to get pictures when I get back to the shop. Didn't think about pictures.
  9. I got the 49 Wayfarer front suspension completely removed today. Outer Tie rods are wore out, I'll replace inner and outers. King pins had a little slop so new bushings and pins to correct that issue. The upper and lower knuckles and threaded pins show no wear, is there something I should be looking for other than the threaded pin worn where it goes thru the bushing. The upper and lower A arm bushing seem ok I'll know more when I get 66 years of grease removed. Any way to tell if the A arm shafts or bushing are wore without taking them apart. The right side tie rod sleeve (the long one) is bent so The sleeve will also get replaced Thanks Dave
  10. After several hours of searching and reading I'm going to ask members where they purchased their front suspension kit. I'm getting ready to disassemble the complete front suspension to inspect all the parts and also clean and paint everything. Where is the best place to purchase the complete kit for my 49 Wayfarer. Who might have the best price. Dave
  11. Not trying to be nosey but, what's a ball park cost on buying and installing a top like that. I have a 49 Wayfarer conv. that's will be needing a new top some day. Dave
  12. Thanks Rich
  13. I'll be starting the front end overhaul next week. I have the complete rear suspension out to clean, paint and replace bushings and seals this week. Dave
  14. Rich I sent you a message and e mail about the Miller control arm tools Dave
  15. Local parts house is showing these numbers listed in your post for a 1949 Wayfarer. Not showing a listing for left side outer. Looking at what's on the car I don't see a difference. I think I'll get 2 ES158L and 2 ES158R and see if this fits the bill.
  16. Will they give me the part numbers, preferably Moog part numbers
  17. Anyone have part numbers for the inner and outer tie rods for 1949 Wayfarer TIA Dave
  18. Thanks for the link to the thread. Dave
  19. Having an X member wont allow the exhaust to be routed like pictured. Im not wanting to start cutting on the X member on the car.
  20. Thanks for the respnses, I think I'll stay with the single exhaust.
  21. Whats the best route to run duals using headers on the flathead six. Keep in mind the convertible has an X member to deal with.
  22. I have located everything for the cowl vent from a 51 Dodge on the Internet. Not know what my missing parts looked like I don't know if the 51 pieces will fit.
  23. 23-61-29 vent and arm looks like what I have. Missing everything else. Is the picture you posted 51&52
  24. I found the linkage mechanism doing a google search from a 1951 Dodge Coronet. Would this be the same or will only 49 and 50 fit. Not having any linkage in my car or pictures of the 51 Coronet linkage I don't have a clue if their the same. Thanks for the help Dave
  25. The linkage and handle is missing on my 49 Wayfarer. Only thing that is remaining is the vent door. Can someone tell me what years and models have the same linkage I could use. Thanks Dave
