The JB weld did work,no leak! But after looking in the tank, I do see rust in the one corner. I don't feel like recoating the tank. Ordered a new one, and all new steel fuel line. That should be fun to bend without kinking it. ugh! My filler tube has some rust on about 8 inches of it inside on the curve. Moisture must have been sitting in that area.' Hard to get to with a wire wheel......... But I did see quit a few videos with using apple cider vinegar. I may try this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gH6rSgGr_0

I did manage to get my fuel line out of the car today, from front to back. I will be replacing the whole fuel line. Not sure what size it is yet..... I did find these. Not sure if they fit my 52 Cambridge 218 engine. And if they would fit with my stock intake for now. http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/store/#!/~/product/category=412417&id=1396124 .

I will try that shortly here. I couldn't find it. I tried google and nothing came up. I was hoping someone online sold them new. I used Clifford performance once for my slant6. But no good for my flathead. I didn't know anyone still made them for mine.
-
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I would like to mod my car, but putting a V8 in, may beyond my knowledge. I have done many SBC's, but they were in Novas that had 6 bangers in them, and the V8, just dropped in....etc. If I had the nerve, I would mod mine with an V8, but then, I would also have to change the rear end, and have to fab one to fit. Another "fail" that would happen to me. I looked around online for headers for my flathead 6, just for novelty. I cannot find them at all? You did some serious mods there!
-
Ohhhhhh ok. I got excited. I thought they made split headers for my motor. I seen a dual carb intake on summit, but thats about all. I would never be able to put a V8 in mine. I couldn't do the fabrication that it takes for mounts....etc.
-
WAIT A MINUTE!!! I seen "dual exhaust"!! Do they make split headers for these flat head sixes?
-
Thats what I was going to offer. I guess thats a NO then already. I like that is has the fuel sender with it. It appears to look exactly like mine. I thought they took the same tank. Thats what confused me. i am hoping the one below here fits my 52 Cambridge. Going to make an offer now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/49-52-MOPAR-gas-fuel-tank-NEW-steel-reproduction-Dodge-Plymouth-Desoto-Sender-/231485803592?hash=item35e5a10c48&vxp=mtr&rmvSB=true

Hey, thats a good idea. I have thick mechanics wire. I can use that, thank you! Thats very sad honestly. I just want a new one, and all new line all the way to the front. I may have to find fuel pump gaskets. Even for the pump itself, I would like to take apart, and clean it out. If they sale that type of kit. Thank you. I like the second one. The new one. I punched in 1952 Cambridge, and it says it won't fit. I don't get that??? Is that an error. Because I think it said it fits 1952 Cranbrook. Aren't they the same?
-
Well, I have to change the tank for sure. After draining the fuel out, the one side of the tank is covered in rust really bad. I am going to order the one on ebay. This one...says "Make Offer"...I may try to ask if he will take $250.00 and see what he says. http://www.ebay.com/itm/49-52-MOPAR-gas-fuel-tank-NEW-steel-reproduction-Dodge-Plymouth-Desoto-Sender-/231485803592?hash=item35e5a10c48&vxp=mtr Hope it fits properly... At least is comes with the float. My filler tube has rust in it also. Any ideas on how to get the rust out of that long filler tube? While it is out, I am cleaning that whole area under the car. It does look clean, but I want to redo it, while the tanks out of the way. Freshen it up.

Ah ow! Okay, luckily mine wasn't leaking at the fitting. But...I just took photos. I don't see a copper washer? Is there anywhere I can buy a washer specifically for that? Or a new fitting and end with the washer? Here's some photos. Heres the inside of the tank, the best shot I could get.
-
Mine was leaking out of the square lug on the tank for sure. My flare is on the end and looks the same as yours. However, I will check right now and return with pics. I don't believe mine has a copper washer on the end. I would has noticed that. Unless it is buried into the female part of the lug that it threads into? Thats a wonder mine wasn't leaking there, if the copper washer is missing. I use a Torpedo heater in the winter. Thats why I want this repaired. I don't want an incident. Oh great! Now you got me afraid! I went into the garage just a bit ago, for a screw driver, and it is strong in there. Of course, I have the gas tank laying there with gas in the bottom of it while the JB wled dries.
-
Awesome! I am trying to save some money on this part if possible. Okay, four years is good! If I can get one year out of it, just until I get other stuff done on it. It was leaking right about that square lug that the line threads onto. It was a very minor leak, but enough to cause an issue with it dripping on the ground. I must admit. These cars don't seem bad to work on. The tank came out very easily.
-
Yes, it does look the same. I kept debating on ordering a new one. He has good feedback.
-
Yes, there was a slight rust to that area, as soon as I posted the photo I seen it too. When I shined my light into the tank, it is all clean inside, for except the sending unit has some crust on the end that floats. I don't get it. Just the neck where the hose hooks onto for the filler tube inside. I can clean those things. I hope the JB weld will hold long term, will help me use momey elsewhere.

I poured 5 gallon of fuel into my tank on my 1952 Plymouth Cambridge, and it started leaking out of the male end where the fuel line screws into. I looked online, I can only find a new one on ebay. However, trying to save some money just for now. I put JB weld around the male lug that is fixed to the tank. I did wire wheel the area, and it was shiny and clean. Will JB weld hold up at all against fuel? Here's a photo of the leaky area. Here's a link to the tank if I need one. I can't find one anywhere else. I hate ebay because I have gotten parts that don't fit, and its a pain to ship back. It does say fits 1952 Cambridge. I dunno.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/49-52-MOPAR-gas-fuel-tank-NEW-steel-reproduction-Dodge-Plymouth-Desoto-Sender-/231485803592?hash=item35e5a10c48&vxp=mtr .

Well Lincoln ended up sending two 10 packs of tips. I didn't expect that. I have tried to use a Harbor Freight welder about a year ago, i think it was like a 90 dollar flux core welder. Well I really felt bad about my welding skills. I didn't get a bottle yet for my new Lincoln, but threw some flux core in it today, and played around on some metal. It was the welder before. My welds were not that bad with this Lincoln. Doesn't look like a stack of dimes, but looked decent, and I tried to take a ole railroad hammer, and bust the weld apart. It wouldn't break. Now time to practice before I touch the Plymouth with it.
-
I added weldporn to my instagram. "WOW!! I have never seen welds like that. Its like artwork!!!!!!!
-
Okay, I seen "torch", and it threw me off. Hey, I can sneak some PAM out of the kitchen. It won't be the first time I took things from the kitchen for the garage. My wife will never realize how many times I seen some cool stuff she had that worked great in the garage. She just thinks she loses things...hahaha Thats great! I have a Community college about 30 minutes from me. I may inquire about that. At my age, I just didn't know if I would look "out of place" being there. Ugh!!
-
Damn, I was going to buy you that watch....LOL I don't know how that happened. ugh! Okay, I wasn't sure if I should use the gel for Flux core wire. At least I know now. I have .025 for the mig on hand. And .035 for the flux on hand. I have a welding supply store not too far. I will get some advice from him on the mix I need in the bottle. He has been there forever. Well, I am turning 51 soon, and when I started driving he was there. So thats pretty long!
-
Yes, thank you. I did flip it over to .035. t has two options on my wheel.
-
Mine does have the gauges and set up, I don't have a bottle yet. I was going to run .035 through it first, just to mess around with some metal I have up the garage. Should the gel be used for flux core too? Or just Mig? I have instagram on my phone, to keep an eye on my kids....haha I will check for weldporn right now! Thank you! This cleaning tip kit okay? http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=445716-48247-FPW1423-0016&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=4738506&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1 .

I found these at Lowes, going there tomorrow. Same stuff basically? http://www.lowes.com/pd_366996-1703-KH507_0__ http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=445716-48247-FPW1423-0016&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=4738506&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

Lincoln popped them in the mail, will be here tomorrow probably. I am going to Lowes anyhow, and will grab more, and Gel and tip cleaner. I am new to this still. I waited till I am turning 51 to weld. This should be interesting. Oh it will get used on the Plymouth! Thats my reason for buying it. I only need it on the front cross frame, "so far", but I think I may need it for a few other places in the car too. . But I wanted a new toy too...haha I don't understand what the OT forum is? i have always had good service at Lowes. I honestly cannot complain about them.
-
yes I am sure. I have watched quite a few welding videos. My buddy has a welder like mine, and he seems to use the flux more than the bottle. He has been welding for years. I have not seen him use flux on body metal though. People do amaze me. I mean the tips are not that expensive, just aggravated me, because I expected to open the box, and start practicing. I noticed the hand held face shield was missing too. But I have a auto darkening hood, so I don' care. So obviously someone did this. The welder and lines look untouched completely, you can tell this unit does not have a mark on it, and the lines were still rolled and tied like Lincoln did it. Also, in the directions it stated the ".035" tip is already installed from factory. It had a .025 one on it. Someone bought it, and did not use it, and returned it and left some stuff out.
-
I called Lincoln customer service. Wow, they don't mess around. I will have the tips in 48 hours. I better go get that Gel and Cleaner tool for thje tips. I am new to welding.
