  1. About the frame... Since the front suspension will not be up to the task, the car most likely will get a Fatman stub frame. This unit has the steering rack, suspension and brakes built in. The suspension will be air ride. The rest of the stock frame is more than able to handle it. As for the heater, the stock unit will work. The engine will get Hilborn injection and the massive elephant air cleaner will not come into play.
  2. Thanks guys, Here is my intended victim. Notice her newly aquired V8 badges. Here is her new heart, 472 inches of Elephant:cool: .
  3. Yea the Hemi is the point. I'm about to do the same swap and would love to talk to this guy.
  4. I just found out that those pics were taken at the Kruse Auction at Auburn, IN over Labor Day Weekend of 2006. It was in the car corral, not the auction.
  5. I don't know I found these pics on the HAMB. I have a similar thread over there. Thanks
  6. Nice ride! BTW, love the helmet is it metal flake?
  7. Thanks for the kind words guys. As for the top, like Bob said, it can be raised manually if need be.
  8. Tred, Do yo have any more pics of your 50?
  9. Well boys considering that this set up has been on the car for the last 50 years (the housing has been replaced) and the car has more than 100,000 miles on it with no major engine work, I'd say it's done it's job quite well.
  10. Works like a champ. I cut apart the first one that was used in it and it was very dirty. I'm quite happy with this system.
  11. I'm not sure about the full flow deal Bob, but the filter housing in this case is a custom made piece. The top and bottom screw together. It uses a filter for a neon inside the housing.
  12. So what is the proper decal? Is it the one in this picture?
  13. Woodie, The harnes is stock but I rewrapped most of it. The battery cables, clamps, and decals all came from Andy Bernbaum http://www.oldmoparts.com/. Don, I'll have to search out that thread. I want this to be as correct as possible. Thanks.
  14. For the better part of two months I have been restoring the engine bay in my Dad's '48 P15 convertible. Here are the results. Before During:
  15. Robin, Great shots! Is that a Michigan plate on the front of your vert?
  16. Thanks guys, I think I will use both trays. The car is a '48 vert and is a former AACA Junior and Senior winner and as far as I know the aluminum tray that I posted is original to the vehicle. But I have been told that the tray should have a flat front like the Desoto pic that I posted. So I guess it will be a bit of a hodgepodge.
  17. What year manual is that pic from?
  18. Well could the fact that the car is a '48 explain that it has this type of aluminum tray?
  19. Thanks Eric, I have the frame like the one pictured.
  20. I did several searches here and the aluminum tray that I have is the only one I saw on this site. Is it not right for the car?
  21. I ordered a tray from a guy online. The tray on the left is the on I ordered. The tray on the right is the one from the car. I sent him an e-mail after I received it and got this reply. Below is a pic of a '48 Desoto that I took at a recent show. So the question is should I use both, one on top of the other?
  22. Does a P15 use two battery trays? A large lower tray and a smaller upper tray that the battery fits snugly inside of? Thanks for your help.
