I need a lot of the trim pieces and the doors are better than the ones on my 49 b1b. Also using header panel and grill as they are better than mine. Unfortunately there is not a motor/ tranny and glass has been shot out. For what I am going to do the 1 ton dually is complete overkill
Here's my project after getting it mounted on the Dakota frame. Had to shorten frame 22". Keeping fuel injected 3.9 and od from Dakota. Have to change front hubs and get grand Cherokee rear end with four link under it yet.
Im in the process of using a 3.9 in my 49. Im using the whole dakota frame tho. With the dakota frame I think we are going to have to recess the firewall but it appears that there would be plenty of room to move the engine forward if using a stock frame. I will know more next week when we get the front clip on it and not just going off of measurements
I have done some searching through the forum and havent been able to find an answer. I am putting my 49 truck on a 95 dakota chassis. I am retaining the original dash and wanting to keep the interior look close to original. I am keeping the dakota v6 and tranny and wiring in use by adapting the dakota floor pan and fire wall to the old cab. I am wanting to put a tilt column in with out having the shift on the column. Any ideas or suggestions on what to use? Also looking for ideas on the floor mount shifter for the od transmission. I really do not want to stray to far from original look. Thanks Matt
Ive been looking at the dakota possibility but also working on a tight budget. The dakotas around here seem to be worth anywhere from 700-1000. I have a s10 frame available but nothing has been set in stone yet. Still trying figure out what way to go with it while getting the peices I know i need. As far as the 4x4 that really just isnt my thing. I love the look of stock would just like to add some newer comforts.
As far as Mechanical I am still debating what way to go. Right now I'm thinking about doing a frame replacement to get front independent. I've been looking at either s10 or ranger beings the wheel base matches up very closely and also leaning towards a 318/727 drive train. Nothing in stone. I seen this truck and we sort of fell in love with it and Im selling my 66 f100 I had intentions of building to try and help build the dodge. Might be rough with a family that is all GM. My dad and brother both have had early 50s chevy trucks. Thank you guys for all the assistance at this point it has been greatly appriciated
Sorry about size not sure how to resize. This is how i found it in the junk yard. Needs lots of tlc. Hopefully a fun family project. I have two boys who are very interested in helping.
Hi guys, I am new here and just purchased a 1949 b1b. Its in rough shape and wondering if there is anyone else on here from Iowa that may be able to help me locate some parts. Thanks Matt
