  1. Thanks Dave I'll be in touch, sorry it's taken so long to reply just been a bit busy.
  2. Hey Andy thanks for the contact info when things quiet down a little I'll give you a call, I''ll check the torque on the axles this weekend. Rusty thanks for the info sounds like I'll have to invest in one of those manuals. Thanks again guys.
  3. Pulled the crown nut off, inspected the thread on the axle again yep damaged but so was the thread on the nut. Went and got a new nut, re-threaded the axle put a thin washer in and hey presto looks like it's gunna hold just fine . Hey Andy I'm in Brisbane thanks for the welcome, maybe if we need to get hold of any parts we can help each other out. Cheers, Dean
  4. Hi Guys, I own a 52 plymouth and I've just worked out that the thread on my left rear axle is stripped, the tricky part is it's the thread closest to the hub. I can screw down the castle(crown) nut but when it get closer to the hub it loses thread and won'rt tighten down, my question is do I have to replace the axle or can I get it welded and re-threaded?I live in Australia and finding another axle is going to be a real task, which brings me to another question what was the stock diff in a Canadian 52 Plymouth ? Thanks, Dean
  5. Ha ha Tim I know what you're saying and don't get me wrong I've got to a point now where it is very reliable but when I bought my 52 it hadn't had a resto done on it. It was still in good shape but I'm sure was only driven a few times a year so driving it everyday for the past 18 months I'm noticing all the noises and things that don't feel quite right.
  6. Hey Andy I'm up in sunny Brisbane, I'm sure these fellas can handle one more Aussie ..lol. The lucky buggers have too much choice when it comes to parts and places to get work done on their cars. My old girl is an everyday driver and I've worked it out for every hour of driving I do I can look forward to 1/2 an hour of work on the car..haha.
  7. Hey guys I may or may not use the shifter I've got here, I'll let you know if I decide to sell it just not sure If I want to go with the floor shift.
  8. The top selector moves forward and back (side to side), I think its a standard set up for plymouth dodge chrysler. Just from what I've seen when researching T85s' and T86s' they all seem to have the two gear selectors on the side. So yeah was just a bit confused????
  9. Hey Phil, was just wondering if you knew what model gearbox I actually have? Most of the gearboxes I've seen with the overdrive have both selectors side mounted and as you can see I have one selector top monted? Any help would be much appreciated. .

  11. I've got a 52 plymouth but live in Australia so imagine haow hard it is to come by things like overdrive transmissions down here. Just so happens at one of my many trips to swapmeets I found one!! It was out of a 53 Chrysler which shared the long block (25") with the imported plymouth. Now this is the part that'll freak you out the old gent who had it fabricated a full top mount floor shifter. Here's a few pics, it's not bolted on the gearbox at this stage but it was and worked!!!
