  3. Does anyone know where I can find the manuals I need for my 50 Plymouth? I found this one: http://www.lloydsautolit.com/Items/1946-1950%20Plymouth%20Shop%20Manual/3585.html Is that a good one to get? Does it show me everything I need to know? I'd really love to find an assembly manual like I have for my 57 GMC.
  4. Everyone keeps telling me to get the manual for my car Where do I go about finding that? I can't find a '50 Plymouth one any where, I did find Chryslers though. The two rear body mounts are different from the other six because there is no lower part of the grommet, they bolt into the frame and not nut and bolt style like the other six. As for the spare tire, mine has a stud that attaches into the frame, then there is a rubber pad that slides over that stud then the body sits on the pad. And the core support, is there no rubber that goes under the two studs of the core support where it mounts to the frame?
  5. I was wondering if a 51-52 grill will bolt into a 50 Plymouth P20? The fenders look the same and the hood so I don't see why not. Does anyone know what parts are needed for this? I really like the look of the 51-52 grill over my 50.
  6. I am almost ready to pull the body off of my chassis but I need to make sure I have everything when I go to reinstall it. I am in need of all the body mounts, now I found them from Andy Bernbaum Auto Parts. They are $7.50 a pair and are part number B-140. Now my questions are: Are all the body mounts the same, from front to back? Do I just need to order 8 pairs? The reason I ask is the very back (rear crossmember) mounts don't look the same as the 6 body mounts on the sides. Also, where do I find a core support mount? Then there is a rubber mount that goes between the frame and body where the stud for the spare tire mount is, I also need that mount, where do I find that?
  7. Interesting..... So should there be a gap on the points if it is just sitting, no power I mean? Is there an adjust ment to this? Or is just a sound adjustment?
  8. I went through and cleaned up my big ol train horn looking horns. How abouts do these horns get wired? Does it have to be 6 volts also? I tried with 12 volts on one horn, positive to the screw stud and just grounded the horn body. I got nothing but a little movement but no sound, the little board inside with the wire spooled around it is getting pretty warm though. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone know of a write up on rebuilding/ repairing these horns? Thanks guys.
  9. It is perfect. I have done lots of brake conversions. The brake pads are at the very top edge of the rotor, any lower and the caliper bolts will rub the rotor and you always want them high, if they are low it will create a ledge on the rotor and will be a pita to get the caliper off for brake changes.   11. I know it's Plymouth, but what year(s) is this ment for? I bought it for my 50 but it is too large and the bolt pattern is incorrect.

  13. I have two sets of stock springs from a '50 P20. Not sure if they are the same or interchangeable though.
  14. I have a 50 P20 and am converting it all to 12 volt. Is there anything I have to do to the sending unit for the fuel tank? Or is there a 12 volt sending unit that would drop in..... I am missing a sending unit as of right now but just wanted to know if there was a 12 volter that I could put in before I bought an original one. Thanks
  15. IMHO It can't be done. the fogging is caused by the membrane fading that is sandwiched between the two pieces of glass.

  18. I need help, how do I get the pin out that holds the kingpin in the upright to remove the spindle? I tried a punch from both sides with no luck. HELP!
  19. Kinda what I did, the hood is so rusted out I was able to take the whole front hood support section and fold it out of the way to get access to the clips. I'll get some dental picks today and give it a shot. Thanks guys!
  20. Well I'm opposite of everything here..... I don't care about the hood, but do want to save the clips and the letters. It just seems difficult because each clip is about 3/4" x 1" and each clip holds two studs (two studs per letter = one clip) That's where it gets hard, one clip per stud wouldn't be so bad to remove.
  21. I was wondering how you all remove the clips the hold the "P L Y M O U T H" letters on the hood of a '50? They are a one way clip and I don't want to brake the studs or the clips. Thanks guys!
  22. See, that one is clamp on style, I've seen those. Mine posted above is not a clamp on, you actually have to dismantle the top of the column to get it off. Just like a newer column.

  24. I just picked up another '50 Plymouth P20 this weekend and this thing has an awesome steering column. Going to use this column in my car now. It looks all stock, even has the full, unbroken, horn ring. My question is it has blinkers, looks original and isn't the clamp on style. Is this factory? I've never seen one..... rare?
