Getting ready to put the bed back on my 48 B1C. Since I was not the one who removed the bed I have some questions. There are four cross members. Three are the same and then there is one shorter one. Which position does the shorter one go in? Also I know that on one of the cross members the mounting bolts do NOT go clear through to the frame. Which one is it? Thanks S.E.
I am getting ready to put the bed back on my 48 B1C. I was not the one who removed it so would like to know a couple things. I have the new boards cut but not bolted down yet. Should the cross members go on the frame first or should I try to attach them to the box then put the whole thing onto the frame. I am not sure how to tell where to locate the 6 mounting bolts in the outside boards. I know that this cannot be that difficult but would like a heads up before I get started. Thanks S.E.
Am looking for the deminsions of the boards for the box floor of a 48 B1C 3/4 ton 116" wheel base. The deminsions given in "pilot knowladge" are for the narrower box on a B1B. Thanks S. E.
I would appreciate a couple good clear pictures of the inside of the doors on a 49 B1, that have the "correct" panels and armrests. My doors have some extra holes that someone used to screw their own pannels to. I am starting to refinish my doors and need to know which holes not to fill. My e-mail is saddington54@yahoo.com. Thanks Steve
Will a cab from a 1948 1-1/2 ton farm truck interchange with my 1949 B1? I have found a really nice straight no rust ton and a half that has quite a lot better cab than the B1 that I am working on. I am not sure as yet what engine the farm truck has but it does run very well. Any idea what the engine, radiator, and hydraulic hoist unit might be worth, give or take. If I end up with this truck I will have several parts for sale. Thanks
I need to replace the peddle bushings and draft seals on my 49 B1. Is this fairly easily accomplished with the cab on? Also is there a video or some good litature that would help a "novice" body man and I do mean novice deal with some small rusted places inside the cab? Thanks Steve
Who makes a 12V to 6V reducer that is heavy enough to run my wiper motor? Pickup has been converted from 6 Volt to 12 Volt and I need to get the wipers working. Thanks S.E.
There are two terminals on the fuel gauge. One connects to the ignition switch and the other connects to the sender in the tank. My book indicates that they should be marked, but on mine I cannot find any markings. So my question is, which terminal is which? Lets use passanger side and drivers side for reference. Thanks S.E.
Am working on getting my gas gauge to work on my 49 B1B. Have juice to the sender in the takn under the seat, have juice to both sides of the gauge with the key on. I checked omes from each side of the gauge (with the key off) to ground and the needle pegged out. The gauge stays on empty no matter what. Am I doing this right and how do I tell if I have a bad sender or bad gauge of both? Thanks Steve
I need to put a kit in the carb. on my 49 B1 with a 230. All I can find on the card is Ball & Ball Mfd. for Chrysler Corp. and on the other side there is a 0404 with a 6 beneith it. Does anybody have any insight on what I have and how to go about asking for the right kit? Thanks S.E.
The exhaust manafold on my ol 49 B1B with a 230 is cracked pretty bad. I realize that I could braze it up but would rather replace it if I can. Where can I get one? Thanks S.E.
