  1. Hi ggdad1951, what about cross belts on the seat itself?
  2. I don't think we would be chatting today.
  3. Hi Tooljunkie, I'm not sure a collapsible steering column will help and I hope to stay as close to original build as possible.
  4. Wow! with no accelerating power in these old trucks, I won't be taking any chances.
  5. Good thinking Eneto, there is no way to anchor a seat belt, but I will try and find a way.
  6. Happy thanks giving.
  7. I'm wondering if I need to fit seat belts to the Dodge truck. I was hoping the forum could answer & advise?
  8. Yes Merle, I think you are right. I'm going to rebuild the truck with flat bed. Thanks for your input.
  9. I bet he takes the body off the frame and puts it on a modern drive train with all the mod cons.
  10. Hi Eneto, it's a good idea, but if you go to the breakers you can get a spare wheel winch & wire which winds up & down with a long hook from behind, just as modern trucks have, all you will need is a round bracket that the long hook will fit thru.
  11. It's too expensive at $295+Tax+Shipping. Just go to the breakers you can get a spare wheel winch & wire which winds up & down with a long hook from behind, just as modern trucks have, all you will need is a round bracket that the long hook will fit thru.
  12. Thanks Dodgeed, how was the tire secured?
  13. Hi Eneto, I too think you could be right. I have already decided to rebuild a stall bed.
  14. I would like to ask the forum is the 1951 Dodge DG2-26 1 ton truck have a 218 or a 318 or neither? Thanks for any help you guy's can give me. Also would it be possible to rebuild the carb and where do I get the parts.
  15. Would this be the full length of the truck?
  16. Okay, I think the original bed was a flat bed. So, I'm going to build a nice flat bed for my truck. Thanks guy's I'm now looking forward to designing & working on it.
  17. Good morning Dodgeed, that's a very nice truck. I have a question, where does the spare wheel fit?
  18. Hi Veemoney, My bed is so rotten that I can just pull the wood off the screws no need for a sawsall.
  19. Thanks Los_Control, the flat bed is not original because there is a welded angle iron 8' bed that the rotten wood is sitting on. I also looks like the wiring for the indicator lights have been extended. I would like to get it back to it's original bed but I'm not sure what size bed it had originally. I have been to see a 1950's Chevy bed but not sure it will fit.
  20. Nice truck, has he decided what he is going to do with it?
  21. Thanks Eneto, this is where I should be.
  22. Thanks Dodgeed, I give myself 2 years to complete the restoration on the 51 Dodge.
  23. Ha! Ha! Ha! very funny.?
  24. I'm in Manitoba Canada. I have just purchased a 1951 Dodge DG2-24 truck, it's a 1 ton in very good condition for it's 72 years. It has a flathead six engine, but not too sure what size it is, the engine & transmission (4 on the tree) works and runs, the truck has almost no rust, the chassis has been painted with black Rustolium oil based paint & seems to be in good shape. It needs new rubber all round & the drivers windshield is cracked, the interior is in good condition, both doors shut smoothly, I don't think the bench seat is original but it's in very good condition. It's got a flat bed which is completely rotten and I'm not sure if it originally came with a backbox. I want to keep the patina. I would like some advice on the 1951 Dodge from the forum. I'll put 4 pictures on for your perusal.
