Been a long time since I have posted but I hope this meets with a smile. Before I retired I was a building inspector for a County Gov in Oregon. Here is one design based on 2007 codes I used for tree placement and landing strip for the jolly guy on my web site for X-mas. Wish all of you a very merry Christmas. Ed.

Robert, I have been off the board for the last couple of months and just read your post. I have six exhausts and intake used valves left from my engine rebuild. It is very hard for me to throw anything away. If you would like a couple valves PM me and I will send them your way. By the way have you ran a compression check? If you have not, do run one, the checker can be had for very little money; you do not need a very good one. Just the type that has a rubber noise piece you hold into the spark plug hole. I would not even worry about the numbers as long as they are about the same. If you have a bad valve you will have one or two cylinders that are way lower than the others. Like others have said before me these motors do not burn valves very often, but not unheard of if the valve is too tight. Good luck as most of us have been there. Ed.

Norm, No flirting, bumer. I agree with you Norm it is not how old you are, but what you feel like. There has been times in my life were I could have been miskaken for a 90 year old, but I keep my chin up and keep going. Before long I was bouncing like a twenty year old kid again. The only problem with that my mind thinks I am twenty and I do something stupid and hurt myself. The last time I was hurt and started to feel better, I jump out of our motor home and broke my ankle. My mind will always be young, it is the body that tells on me.

Well guys life has been kind of a bummer lately. About a month ago when I was working on the Plymouth I decided I was felling to good. I stumbled and did a dance across the garage, then fell down. Of course when I did that I could not just fall, I skidded across on my right knee. Being the he-man that I am, I pick my self up and was a little on the sore side. I almost crawled to the car and went home. To make a long story short about two weeks later I decided I better see the doc for a shot in my knee and she says yea right. Had an MRI done and I rip up some ligaments, fluid on the knee, and of course the arthritics. The soonest I can get into the orthopedic surgeon is in early Oct. It looks like my girl will have to wait until next spring before I can do much more to her. I have the frame off of her and I had it blasted and I shot a couple coats of epoxy on it. Any way I am back just sitting in my girl going vroom vroom. I am hoping I can at least work on the motor a little here and there before I am cut up. This might turn out be a good thing if I can move again, you never know. Ed, Not So At The Moment.

I am going to run a megisquirt controller. This controler lets you adjust it to any engine, will even run different ign. systems. http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html Ed.

This site has a way to shift the early 518 trany using hyd switches. I have been loking for one for my pick up, but there are getting kind of scarce at the wrecking yards. "This is how to replace your three speed transmission with a 1995 back A518 overdrive transmission with a three wire connector (gas). A 518 transmission has a 31% overdrive and will produce a 30 to 40% increase in gas mileage on the road over a three speed transmission. Remember overdrive is only 3rd gear high range anyway. There are two wire 518 transmissions out there, these have a non-lock-up torque converter. With this three wire setup you have a four speed transmission plus a torque converter lock-up feature. The extra gear is 3rd high range. We've been asked this question for years, so I decided to put it down in black and white. What we're actually going to do here is control the overdrive and torque converter lock-up normally controlled by the computer using one vacuum and two oil pressure switch. Instead of using an electronic speed sensor and throttle position sensor we will use a mechanical / hydraulic / electronic speed sensor and a vacuum / electronic throttle position sensor. This will be accomplished with the use of three GM parts and some trick wiring. The Chevy and Ford guys make the swap to overdrive all the time, it's time for the Dodge people to have the same option. Lets say you drive an average of 400 highway miles per week, at that rate you could save as much as $1000.00 per year on gas. This can be made to work with a diesel motor also with or without a vacuum pump and vacuum regulator." http://www.transmissioncenter.net/SwapInformation.htm Ed.

What a way to start my work day. It kind of makes me think that maybe a set of bear claw latches might not be a bad idea. I am going to use a telescope and tilt colum out of a cad with my plymouth wheel. After seeing these pictures maybe a tilt with air bag would be better. I hate to be a whimp but, alive sounds better even if I have to forgo the plymouth wheel. It is to bad no one has come up with a way to install an air bag in an older wheel. Air bag to older wheel = big profits. More thoughts to hurt my brain with. Ed.
