318Pilothouse

So with the standard 318 engine mounts is it a exact fit to the pilothouse frame? I was under the impression that specific mounts had to be made to fit the pilothouse frame........ thanks so far for the brake help...... it looks similar to what i have planned........

I have my chassis stripped and everything off except for the axles.......Most of the chassis is sandblasted and ready for paint....... I have bought 3/16 brake tubing to redo the lines, and i am looking at getting a cardone master cylinder/booster........can anybody offer advice as to manual/power brakes....... i have been told its hard to run disc brakes manual without power booster......... The other thing i am looking for is the person on here that has mounts for this truck for a 318 mopar engine....... Thanks for the help yall......

Oh also i measured the head of the engine they are supposed to go on and i got 24 3/4 or there abouts so are you sure on the 25 measurment.

I have two whole ones they are just in about as many pieces as can be imagined though.

I do have two oilpans as far as i know they are for a 230 flathead though. If you have the model code for your truck i own a part order manual and can check to see if they will match to your engine. As for selling it i will have to look at shipping, then whatever shipping costs add ten bucks and its yours if you need it.

Well i have my pilothouse down to the chassis and am doing the dirty work now. I am thankful for all the help i have found here. Also i would like to let everyone on here know that i have two complete engines for my 53 pilothouse that i am getting rid of. I will sell the parts cheaper than dirt if you want them just ask and i will see if i can find it for you. Otherwise i am sending everything to the dump. (i need more space).

I want to get lights set up on the truck. I am doing most of my truck as a custom, but i am having trouble getting lights figured out. The original light off the one side is not what i want i would like to get turn signals, reverse lights and brake lights but cannot find any good options. I am looking for someone who has done lights on there truck that i could take the idea from. As far as my brakes i am hoping to out in a power brake system unless someone has a better idea to offer there. I don't have much knowledge on braking systems. I would essentially like to have disc brakes all the way around but i do not know whats best. I am putting a 318 in with a 727 torqueflight tranny and a dana 60 3/4 ton rear end, to handle the torque ill be pulling. Also is there anyone who had to redo the running boards mine are rusted through in some spots but still in good condition over all.

Hi Everyone I am still looking for help on the lights issue. Does anyone have pictures or help? Is there anyone that has there's done? Also what is suggested for the brakes? I have heard and read that it is nice to keep the pedal through the floor setup..........

Did you have those plastic plates made that cover the original gauge holes or did you find them somewhere.......... I like what you did with the gauges can you offer any help or advice on it? Thanks

Wow Thanks so much! So much help here. I love it! Ok so here i go again with some more questions. What have any of you done about rear lighting on the truck? What about interior gauges? Is there anywhere to get replacements or should i keep what i got and restore them? Is there any good advice on how to restore the original gauges. Where can i get electric motors for the wipers to replace the vaccum motors? My truck is the four window set up and i am wondering if there are kits to put in the six window set up or if anyone has advice on that one? I have decided to go with a Mopar 318 with a 727 Torqueflight and would like to put a lokar shifter on it. If anyone has any leads on one i would appreciate it. The only thing that would change my mind on all that is if a 392 Hemi will fit in the truck i have a good lead on one and think it would be awesome any knowledge there? Dan Babb-------You have the similar truck as i do....I have 53 B4B 108 ....Can you help me with where to acquire parts specific to that truck. I cannot find body parts, interior parts or anything like that...... Its like the parts are not made anymore.......Also i am wondering what anyone has done for rear lights.......I dont want it to look cheesy so i am trying to get any idea of what others are doing.

hey thanks so far for the help everyone. Now how about any help with replacing the drum brake set up with disc brakes? And i want to lower the truck a little bit to make it a little bit more stable any help there? I am keeping the original frame just because i am not THAT skilled with rebuilds yet but i want to fully consider all the options. I have also thought about putting a different make of motor in is there any advice or thoughts on which one? Thanks
