I like that truck. That is a luckey lady who has a dad willing to do all that work for her. Good job!

I replaced the drag link with a new one. You are right, the straight link rubbed on the leaf spring.

I'm working on rebuilding my front end on my 53 B4B. It was quite a mess. Somebody had straightened out the drag link and welded angle iron to it. So I don't trust whats there. I think it has the wrong tie rod in it. The solid tie rod with out the two ends measures 47and 1/4 inchs. Is this correct for a 1/2 ton? I put in all new parts but it's not right. Can you guys tell me the right length? thanks

Thanks for your reply 49 Dodge 1 ton. Now I know thats the way it goes. I'm going to make some kind of gasket too. Boyd

The end of My grill brackets land on the nose of the truck. It 's metal to metal so it will scratch and squeek. The brackets have little holes at the ends, so I wonder if something goes there to cushion it. My truck came without a grill and the parts I have were in bad shape, so I don't know how it's supposed to go. I know a lot of you folks have installed alot grills and know how to work it. It is a 49 three bar grill, here is a picture of the bracket. Thanks for any help.

At one time my truck was stripped .A former owner did a fairly good job of rounding up parts to get it back on the road.so now I'm trying to refine things to make the truck right.and it is a long list. To start with the rear fender braces are missing .I have not been able to find any.So I ask you folks, does anybody know where to get a set of 1953 B4B rear fender braces? OR I could make some if someone could post a picture of theirs. The fender sheet metal is tearing so I got to fix this. The other Missing parts are the windshield wiper pivots. I've looked but nobody even lists them.I sure would appreciate some help.I know some of you started with a lot less and made some nice trucks. THANKS, BOYD

Thankyou to all for your help.I had the front end checked out by an old Mopar nut. The king pins are bad.The drag link has a 3 foot long piece of angle iron bolted and welded to it.Looks like accident repair. So I'll be going through and replacing what ever it needs.I have a new master cylinder, thanks to the former owner.I need the winsheld wiper posts, somebody took em off to prime the truck and there gone.

Howdy, I am new to the forum and to posting, I'm also the proud new owner of a 53 B4B. I like this truck and want to give it the help that it needs. It does not like to turn or stop.Steering is as bad as it gets. You have to brace your legs against something to turn the wheels. So I am ordering new front end parts thanks to the links I found here. Question...There are three different King Pin Kits, one with a nylon bearing, one with a metal bearing and one with roller bearings. They all have the same oilite bushings and the rest seems the same.I'm trying to get the right part but I don't know the difference.
