  1. I have a 1936 President 4 dr sdn
  2. I found some pictures of the car with out sheetmetal i wanted to share. now keep in mind the clip job was done in 1987B.F ( before fatman). and at least in are neck of the woods we were the first to really big block one of these old D-24s, at the time the ones we did run across were flathead 6 powered, chevy powered, or and a small block mopar....
  3. Canceled a car show because of rain??? if that happened up here in Washington state..we wouldn't have any shows...but I was born here and have webbed feet... but don't worry Rodney about the show, getting to the show is the fun part. unless the show has like a poker run or something ,then that's sad.... It's good to hear I'm not the only Studebaker owner on here!
  4. well yeh is not perfect....but it's dang near complete.....and trust me me complete is important....lol...
  5. hey folks, there is a '49 dodge roadster on ebay right now, it's starting bid is $8500 and nobody seems to bidding??? anybody else see it?
  6. '51 stock suspension is nothing wrong with it...I'm just saying it all depends on what you what out of the car.And what you what to do with the car, i don't like the idea that you got to clip everything, and just because it's new it's better...that's not always the case...if you want to put a small block in you can use the stock stuff and you'd be just fine but with the big block mopars you might have to try other makes for parts....besides it's hot rodding and street rodding it's about be different and it's about creativity. people are going to build things your not always going like but that's life. and here's one for yeh....in my shop...I have a ford, and a chevy parked next to my dodge!!!! and in the other garage i have a Chrysler, a Studebaker, chevy, and 2 not one but 2 fords! I know it's really weird liking more then one make of car.....I'd post pictures but your head would probably explode ...and we don't need the mess.... and I'm a mopar guy I have 4 mopars and one studebaker, and mopars are neat and they have a lot going for them...but they are not perfect.. ...( the k car ??? really) but none of them are , they are machines...machines are made by man and man is not perfect. as for being bored while driving my dad's 440 dodge...not likely, had the time of my life good weather, cool cars and spent the day with my dad. What I was debating was with your statement that because a mopar has GM parts it's undrivable .....but that's not true the '48 handles like a dream...just like all my stock mopars handle?? last point, what's with the 340 fetish?...you know they made bigger motors motors don't you?
  7. 6. Would you cut up and old Mopar and then install GM parts because you think you're "improving the car" yet you make the car undrivable and ruin it?!?!?!?! So, what's the name of your village? and hear's a picture of me driving and undrivable Dodge with Gm parts...fYI I dang near fell asleep at the wheel because the ride was so smooth.
  8. i dont think there is anything wrong with cliping a car..just so long as the person knows what heck they are doing...my dad's '48 dodge 2 door sdn has a '77 Camero clip...with a 440 and some people will look down the engine bay and swear we used the stock rails... and we get alot of good feedback on how it was done...then we get the village idiot that is pissed we didnt use a Volare and why didnt we keep it all mopar? and then dad explains to him.." because it's are car! "....plus Volare your limited on how big of v8 you can use.......and they goofy looking....and the camero looks better....( and works better ) granted I like cars that are stock, but i was raised by a street rodder who happened to like and appreciate all old cars and the work that goes into them, and taught me to be the same way. the issue i have is when the work is not done right...and the car is a goofy looking death trap...
  9. wish i could have been there to see it, i like talking to original owners, the stories they have are great . that's the one thing i enjoy about going to car shows. my dad's D-24 is a 2 door sdn ( with 440) and sometimes an older gent will come talk to us about one they had new, or one they had got for cheap, It makes me wonder someday when i'm that age..when i go to a show and somebody shows up in a '90 Lincoln town car and i'll go off telling about how a sweet ride it was in it's day and remember when they were new.... found a picture from the movie The Defiant Ones (1958) there ones in a scene.
  10. yeh 46-48 dodges have butterfly hoods.
  11. yeh, I know it's slim pickens...a guy down in Oregon says he has one and it's on craigslist. the ad says it's a '47 with a 360 and a ford 9 inch....and all the metal work was done ,car just had to be finished.....but the ad didnt have any pictures . I believe it when I see it..for all i know it could be a plymouth, chrysler, desoto..or a '57 chevy for that matter...who knows you would be amazed at what some people think they have. he also wanted $10k for it....I'd have to sell a Studebaker, and not eat for a couple of years to get that. And there is another one in Hemmings but it has a chevy motor or ford motor in it? this thread was just for fun and just to see what's out there, I'm not surprised at all....because as I'm writing this i looked in my Crestline book The Dodge Story, they said only 9500 were made between 1946-48. that's almost the number of '49-'51 roadsters and Sportabouts. And as far as i know I'm the only person on here that owns a '51??? So now I'm not surprised at all at the low picture count....I thought people just didnt want to post any pictures lol...
  12. thanks, I needed that! when I was a kid, dad and brother and I went to a guys house in Snohomish,Washington he had 2 convertibles, 1 club coupe, and one business coupe...they were parts car for the 1 convertible...dad could have had all of them for $5000....but at that time we didn't have the room and $5k might as well be $5mill.....always wondered who ended up with those cars....
  13. O.K all you folks out there will d-24 convertibles, let's see them please...post your pics here...
  14. yea, I'm going to be looking for a business coupe for a parts car.as soon as i can clear out some space and raise the $$$$$....I'm going to post and ad in the wanted parts section for a business coupe trunk ( already have one on the HAMB)...but the missing trunk is the least of my worries for now i'm going to be doing the rockers, floors and such. thanks benny
  15. Reg ,if you can get them grab them! I have a '51 Sportabout that I'm restoring this body style was only 1949-51....and in '51 they only made 1002! '49 was the year of the roadster, by '50 they had roll up windows... by the way i'm missing a trunk for mine....
