I could get my hands on a flathead v8, and in the Netherlands a v8 is more desired, that is why I was thinking about a swap. but I probably stick with the original engine, as I can read it is not a preferred option.
I have a 1950 ford also, and that car will get a flathead v8

well at the moment I'm just looking for reactions so I can make up my mind, I 'm looking for somebody with experience that can tell which engine fits best or is easier to install. It doesn't have to be a ford engine, but a 289 or 302 is easier to buy in europe. Maybe there a prefabricted parts that I could use or buy and fit the driveline and a specific engine well?
Jorg
Hi,
I'm investigating the idea of putting a v8 in my 1950 chrysler windsor newport. Has it been done before?
Is it possible to use a mustang 289/302 engine?? can I use the same axles, etc.... what about electronics, gauges, clutch, pedals etc.
So please advice me?
Thanks jorg
I use 10w oil.
I lowered the idle rpm and that solved the problem mostly.
it still rattles a few second before it shifts to 4. it shifts when driving approximately 15 - 20 mph.
Thanks Jorg
hello,
I have a fluid drive that tries to upshift, sometimes it succeeds but other times not and it is scraping his gears. when it does upshift it can suddenly downshift and not upshifting again.
what could be the problem?
Jorg
I can confirm that the 28 inch will fit, cutting 1 inch off will give you the correct size and some play to adjust.
In my case I didn't have to bend it. it is a perfect and easy fit.
Jorden
Hi can you confirm that when I order this one it will fit a 1950 chrysler windsor newport coupe?

I need to re-upolster but we got no pattern, and the old ones are to bad. I need the patterns to get it made by a company outside my region, so I can't sent the old benches.
Jorden
the seats are the same? so If I have a sewing pattern from another car it should also fit the chrysler?
or who has a pattern for the seat upholstery?
Jorden
hello
I got a chrysler windsor newport coupe 1950.
did mopar use the same size benches in other cars like dodge or Plymouth? or which brand used the same interior?
Jorden
Another question, when I pull the handbrake, the interior light are flickering on and off, is that normal behavior?
I saw it also on this video: https://youtu.be/vr0yfQPzOFo?t=982
thanks Jorg
I succeeded fixing the turnsignal switch. removed the steering wheel and turnsignal switch. I opened up the switch, cleaned the contacts and stretched the 4 springs a little bit. reinstalled everything and I t works as it should be.
Thanks for the helping hands
jorg
it is a 1950 Chrysler windsor newport with all original parts.
bulbs are ok as they do work as it should be. just no brakelight when using the turnsignal. no matter which side you use
could it be the circuit breaker?
jorg
hello,
I'm rewiring my brakelights and turnsignals at the rear.
everything works seperately but when I use the brakelights and left or right turnsignal the other brakelight goes off.
what could be wrong?
jorg
