I have been having problems getting the old oil pan off. I took out all the bolts and is wouldn't budge. Not really sure what to do next. I don't want to bang on it too hard and bend it.
Greetings to all. I just received my new gaskets for my 48 B-1-B pickup. There was a strong drip leak midway on the oil pump side of the oil pan. Will the new gaskets need any pretreatment before I install?? An oil rub or some gasket pretreat?? The new ones are the Felpro cork appearing gaskets.
1948 B1-B Pickup. Has anyone had any problem getting the rear hubs back on the vehicle?? I have reduced the brake adjusters as low as they will go. My problem may be from changing out the wheel cylinders. I replaced the old ones with new ones. The new ones are supposed to be an "exact fit". The new cylinders seem to look the same.

Does anyone know what the second set of number are on the B1B engine serial number. My truck is a 1948 B1B, engine serial number T142*4021* ......I am assuming the second set 4021 is a number meaning the 4021st engine built????
I am in the process of replacing all wheel cylinders and lastly the master cylinder. Are the above comments relative to a 1948 Dodge B1B pickup? The wheel cylinders were no problem. I'll start on the master cylinder this weekend. If I understand the comments.....this can be done from underneath the vehicle???
I've been cleaning my fuel system. The carburetor has been rebuilt, new gas tank, new fuel filter. When I try to start the truck, how long should it take for the fuel pump to get gas to the carburetor??
Yes, I've been reviewing the process of flushing out the system. Do you have any suggestions as to the process. IE: some say denatured alcohol etc. and how to do it??
Well, the sad part is I let my truck sit for many many years and the fluid has seeped out. I did a full body off restoration in 1986. I added the wrong type fluid to it a few years later and destroyed the braked system. Then I had the brake system completely redone but I didn't keep a record of the type of fluid they used. I assume DOT 3, but after seeing what happens when the wrong fluid is added I am paranoid. Do you think there may be some fluid left in the lines to test?
