About Me

My husband and I do almost everything together, including working on cars.  He calls me his "wrench".   We're both retired from our "paying/professional jobs".

I've lived on farms all my life... hog farm in MO, beef in NY, now beef/apple orchard in VT.  I grew up fixing equipment & vehicles with my dad & brother, on a tight budget (the farmer way).  My husband was a city kid who learned about cars with high school friends in the '60s, working on their '50s jalopies.

With my husband, some cars are to be repaired/restored as close to OEM as possible (i.e. '65 GTO, '52 Pontiac Chieftan, '85 300ZX Turbo), but others just need to be weather tight, run, and look reasonably good ('48 Special Deluxe & '50 Ford Custom).  When it comes to old tractors, they just need to get the job done.  They don't have to be pretty.  They've earned their scars and wear them proudly ('48 Ford 8N & two David Brown 990s).

I'm more comfortable using the computer than my husband, so that's why I'm requesting to join the forum.  Several months ago we purchased a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe project car.  It runs and drives, but needs a lot of work.  Maybe some day it will be road worthy.  For now its something to tinker with a little at a time.
