As I was leaving after making the purchase I said to the seller, "I will look for a 1948 plate to register it with" and he said, "Oh, wait a minute, I'll be right back... Here, this was with the car if you want it." I pointed out the AAA stickers and he said, "Yea, in case they broke down on the way to the post office & back. I don't think they ever shifted out of 2nd gear." -

Never saw one of these before. The grandson told me that his grandparents were "very religious" after showing me where the "little magnetic Jesus" used to be on the dash (I would love to see what it looked like if it is still around). By the verbiage on the sticker, it doesn't sound like they expected to survive an accident! -

This tag was found under the seat & apparently specifies the upholstery color, "Town Blue" for this vehicle. The seat cushions & largest portion of the door interior trim panels bear this color. -

This car was purchased by the original owner toward the end of the 1948 model year as a dealer demonstrator vehicle. He was the first private owner, it then went to his grandson from whom I purchased the car. -

The last inspection sticker (already removed when I purchased the car) shows fewer than 1000 miles driven from 1989 until we purchased the vehicle 28 years later! -

A '51 with an automatic... it's not a Lincoln, is it?... It's always nice to find the "missing" parts still with the vehicle! I know how you feel about the price situation - the "unplanned purchase" I made last Friday a week ago was the same situation. When he told me the price, I tried not to sound too shocked or appear to be in too much of a hurry. I just said, "OK. Can I write you a check?"

Thanks. Yes, I am a firm believer in doing it once & doing it right, even if it takes a few extra months of saving until the money is there. I will do both sides & look everything else over really good while its torn down. I will also do a whole front end kit if needed. Judging by the way the car rides, handles & steers, I am guessing that the rest of the front suspension is in pretty good shape. Won't know until I get through the 70 years of crud - but I'd rather have crud then rust, at least I know it was greased...
